Eastside Mission & Vision

Our mission is to build a strong educational foundation while meeting the unique needs of our students.

Working in partnership with the community, Eastside Elementary will provide all students:

  • A collaborative team of professionals who are committed to improve their practices, so that all students learn at high levels

  • A safe, positive, and inviting learning environment

  • An engaging and challenging curriculum focused on essential academics and life skills

  • Individualized and timely support that provides students with what they need to succeed

Big Top Team of the Week: Support Staff

The support staff team is being recognized for the Big Top Team of the Week for displaying many of our Eastside commitments. The support staff completed their CFA this week. They brought in results from using nonfiction text in their content. Each staff member shared student work and we discussed results. Some of the staff commitments they displayed were:
  • We commit to building wide collaboration to keep our work student focused.

  • We commit to using data and evidence to improve student learning.

Are We Cheering Each Other On? Are We Cheering Our Students On? Does the staff see your passion? Do your students see your passion?

Keep Up the GREAT Work

I can't say enough about how GREAT conferences went! I have received so much feedback from parents that they appreciated the conferences and the amount of data we shared about their child's strengths and weaknesses. I know for some of you it was difficult to have honest conversations. Parents appreciated the honesty and were impressed by the resources you all provided.

I will be at Master Principal Tuesday through Thursday. Mrs. Manning will be here to help with anything you need. I will be available by email if you have any questions.

Be proactive with student behavior. Please remember the procedure to send a student to the office. You must fill out the office behavior referral form. After that is filled out, Mrs. Manning will call the student down. Prior to filling out the form, you should have already contacted the parent by phone and had a conversation with them about this behavior three different times. Mrs. Manning would love to help you problem solve and give you strategies to help in the classroom. Be sure to ask her if you need ideas.

We will not have team meetings this week. Your assignments to work on will be the survey I sent out by email and updating the assessment wall in the team meeting room. This will include MAP, DIBELS, and DRA (Ms. Newkirk worked on DRA so it may be updated.). Do this by end of school day on Thursday. Mrs. Manning can open the room up for you. Let her know if you have any questions. I will leave the HAPPY post it note emojis on the table! Feel free to place them next to any kid that deserves a celebration due to growth!

  5. Important Reminder about Professional Dress Code: Some of you with the cold temperatures have been straying from professional dress. If you are unsure, please ask me. Most likely if you are questioning it, you shouldn't wear it. Panther gear is only to be worn on Fridays. Sweatshirts with a hood are not professional. Tights, leggings, or spandex are not allowed unless covered with a loose fitting top, no shorter than the finger tips when arms are held straight against your side. - This is stated in our Faculty Handbook.

  6. Staff attendance incentive for the month of January, February and until Spring Break: The PTO will be donating 3 $100 bills for a drawing for staff with Great Attendance. If you have had perfect attendance (not counting PD), you will get three chances to win. If you have missed 1 day (not counting PD), you will get two chances to win. If you have missed 2 days (not counting PD), you will one chance to win. We will draw prior to leaving for Spring Break. Thank you PTO!
