Spelling Bee
Millsap’s top speller, Allison Sarwon in 5th grade, competed at the district spelling bee on January 29th. 55 students from CFISD elementary schools competed in the bee. Allison made it to the 8th round! What an accomplishment! We are so proud of Allison and all of her hard work preparing for the event.
Name That Book
On February 5th, the top readers from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade competed in the Millsap Name That Book competition. To be part of this challenge, students chose to read 100 books from the recommended list. These 18 students read for months and prepared during after school meetings with Ms. Hopkins. So much hard work was put into this, but the 3rd grade team was crowned Millsap Champions. They will move on to the district competition to represent Millsap on March 26th at the Berry Center. Way to go Mustang Readers!

Counselor's Corner
Our value this month is service.
Service means lending a hand to help someone else. J. Irwin Miller once said, “The most important service to others is service to those who are not like yourself.” Have you ever helped do something for someone who was very different from you? Maybe you have been on a trip to another country to help build a church or a school or to help clean up after a storm. Perhaps you haven’t actually gone on a trip like this, but you helped by gathering food, supplies or money to send to a place like this. Were the people like you or were they different? Maybe you weren’t helping people at all, but you were helping care for animals at your local shelter. Find a way to help; you’ll feel great about it!
Car Rider Info Update:
Students are allowed into the building at 8:30 AM each morning. As a courtesy to parents, we begin unloading students at 8:20 AM. Students wait under the covered walkway until 8:30 AM, at which time they are allowed to go to class or to the cafeteria to get breakfast. Please remember that our car rider line ends at 8:45 AM, when staff goes inside to begin instruction. If you have any questions about our car rider procedures, please call Mrs. Murr, Assistant Principal (281-897-4474). Thank you.
CAR RIDER LINE
Dear Parents,
In an effort to make our AM car rider line more efficient, we would like to ask for your help with the following:
1. Please allow enough time for your child to enter building at 8:45 AM. We ask that you be in the car rider line no later than 8:30 AM so you have enough time to go through the line and drop your child off before the beginning of the school day. When the 8:45 AM bell rings, car rider staff will need to go into the building so they can begin instruction.
2. If you exit the parking lot by turning right onto Shaft Rd., please turn right onto Huffmeister Rd. Please do not wait to make a left onto Huffmeister as that slows the other cars that are trying to exit the parking lot.
3. Occasionally, car rider staff may direct you to turn left from the parking lot onto Shaft Road or go straight through the daycare lane to Huffmeister Rd. Please follow the direction of the car rider staff and know that we are doing this to alleviate a temporary back-up. We appreciate your assistance with this.
4. Please do not turn left into the parking lot when there are other cars in line. This complicates the car rider process and is not fair to parents that have been waiting in line.
Thank you in advance for your help with these procedures. We appreciate your support.
