Cape's Mission & Vision
Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.
Dear Cape Families,
The end of the year is just around the corner. It does not seem possible that another school year has come and almost gone. I do hope your child has not only enjoyed the year but also has grown in many areas. Many of the goals established at the beginning of the school year have been accomplished. Throughout the year, we have had many opportunities to see how our student achievement goals like fluency, AR, iReady, Compass and math facts, have been actively embraced by staff, students and all stakeholders. We are so proud of our students’ growth this year at Cape!
Your children are surrounded by caring and dedicated Cape staff members each day. May 6 - 10 is Staff Appreciation Week. Please take a moment to thank a teacher, paraprofessional, bus driver, or café worker! It is an honor to lead this wonderful staff each day. Special thanks to our PTO, Cape Coral First United Methodist, Quality Pest Control and Mathnasium for donating to our Staff Appreciation Week.
Our 4th and 5th graders did an outstanding job on the writing and ELA portion of the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA). Our 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders will continue to show everyone what they have learned in Math next week and 5th grade for Science! Please look at the attached calendar or on our website for specifics dates. Limited homework will be given during FSA testing days.
Please make sure your children are:
- at school each day by 7:45.
- well rested.
- fed a nutritious breakfast.
Cape has a new identification camera for our front office doors. Our goal is to have the front office doors locked and all parents showing identification to the camera starting on Monday, May 13. You will show your driver’s license to the small camera located on the right side of the door. Once approved, the office staff will buzz you into the main office. We thank you in advance for having your photo identification each time you visit Cape Elementary. Your support in making our school safe is appreciated by our staff and students.
We look forward to seeing all of you at our Celebrations of Learning, our end of year awards. Please look for grade level dates and times in this newsletter, in the school calendar in your child’s planner or on our website. Remember, you must bring photo identification to attend the awards ceremony.
While we look forward with excitement and anticipation to the upcoming school year, we look to our fifth grade class to remind us of the past and of all that has been learned and accomplished throughout their years in elementary school. Parents and relatives are invited to the Fifth Grade Celebration of Learning at North Ft Myers High School on Thursday, May 23 at 10:00 A.M. Parents may begin arriving at 9:30.
Thanks for your continued support of Cape Elementary. We are going to finish this school year Cape Strong!
Sincerely,
Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

Students and school staff have participated in a school-wide positive attendance. School attendance information is also shared with parents during our parent drop-off line daily on our Attendance Matters board. Finally attendance information has been shared throughout the school year in our newsletter.
· Please know if you have questions regarding school attendance or you need any support with your student’s attendance you can contact the school social worker.

PTO News
The end of the 2018-2019 school year is almost here! We are so thankful for each and every person who has helped support our school!
Our last PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, May 8th in the Cape Elementary library at 6:00pm. For the 2019-2020 school year, our PTO board will have vacancies to fill, so it is extremely important that we have parents attend!
We are so grateful for the time and effort that our past board members have contributed and we look forward to welcoming new members for the upcoming school year!
Please reach out if you are interested in becoming a part of our PTO board. The positions are time consuming but the payoff of smiling students makes it all worthwhile.

From Our School Nurse-Medication Pick Up
As the school year ends, please remember to pick up your student’s medication. We cannot keep medications in the school over the summer. Medication can be picked up anytime between now and the end of the school year. We will keep just enough of the mediation to finish the school year. Any medication left in the clinic after the end of the school year will be discarded. Medication administration forms will be sent home in case you see the doctor over the summer and wish to get ready for the next school year. We wish each of you a safe and healthy summer!
