Gifted Identification Updates
Friday November 15th: Deadline for CogAT and NNAT testing:
Please refer to the 2019-20 GT Assessment Training Schoology group training materials for videos on how to pull status reports and score reports to ensure that no students have missing or incomplete scores.
Please reach out to your Advanced Academics Program Coordinator if you need help this week. Advanced Academics will be pulling data first thing Monday morning and scoring parent and teacher rating scales for the 2,800+ referrals.
Monday November 18:
The Advanced Academic Team will deliver letters and score reports to send home with all 2nd graders.
Students with pre-qualifying scores will receive a letter which includes a link for a parent survey.
We will also be sending out KOI rating scales to teachers of pre-qualifying 2nd graders.
We are GRATEFUL to our campus leaders for the support to ensure completion of the HOPE scaleslast week and the diligence with testing. We continue to be AMAZED with the support to identify and provide appropriate pathways for our advanced learners!
GT Referral Process: New Students to Klein After Referral WIndow
If a student enrolls in Klein ISD for the first time after September 27th and before Jan 17th, they can take advantage of a New Student GT assessment opportunity. This referral period is for students newly enrolled in Klein may and have missed out on the GT Referral period. This year, parents can request testing during the Move-In Assessment window. Please refer to this shortened Move In G/T Assessment Calendar.
Parents will need to contact their campus’ GT Administrator or Counselor to be added to the list. Teachers can also refer a student for testing by reaching out to the parents and having them request testing from the GT Administrator or Counselor. Permission to Test forms will be sent home for those students toward the end of the year. Students will be tested on campus by an Advanced Academics Program Coordinator in February and placement decisions will be made in the spring for services to begin in August of 2020.
For questions about GT Assessment, please reach out to your campus GT Administrator or Advanced Academics Program Coordinator.
Klein ISD GT Student Transfer Policy-EHBB

The District shall assess the student during the next annual screening period using the District's established identification criteria, and the selection committee shall determine if continued placement in the District's program for gifted and talented students is appropriate.
