Student Placement for 2015-2016

Lovin Elementary School

Student Placement Procedure

April 2015

Dear Parents or Guardians,

The purpose of this letter is to share our plan for placing students for the 2015-2016 school year. We have a process in place that we take very seriously. There are several criteria we consider to ensure academic success for all our students. Some of the criteria include: gifted, gender, special needs, and class size.

My job is to ensure that there is a highly-qualified, passionate teacher in every classroom who believes that all students can learn, and challenges each child to meet his/her potential. Each teacher provides a safe and secure environment for students, and each teacher works with the others on the grade level to plan rigorous yet differentiated lessons.

However, even though our teachers provide input on unique student needs, if you have a concern, we want you to be able to share those concerns with us as well. If you would like to fill out a Student Placement Information form, please stop by the main office to pick one up. All forms are due no later than May 8.

We will not be able to accept any forms after that date. The form allows you to write about the type of learning environment that will be most successful for your child, along with any additional information that should be considered.

Please know, we will not be able to honor special requests for specific teachers.

Thank you for your support. Working together builds a stronger school and community.

Dr. Janet Blanchette

Please note a few important things...

There will be no "charging" in the cafeteria starting May 1. All negative balances need to be cleared as soon as possible.

May 6 is field day for grades K, 2, and 4.

May 7 is field day for grades 1, 3, and 5.

Check our web site for times and opportunities to volunteer and/or donate water.

We will be mailing report cards right after school ends, and would appreciate a $1.00 donation to help with the cost of the postage.

Finally, May 8 is Georgia STEM day, so you can look forward to more "fun" and meaningful STEM projects happening throughout Lovin that day!! Don't forget to ask your child what they built and what they learned!
