Classroom Happenings
ELA- Mr. Jones We started working on the new unit, Writing About Reading this week. Students will be analyzing a book they love throughout this unit. Most of the writing will be small chunks of reading and writing thoughts (Jots) and feelings about that reading followed by longer writing with explanations of those jots. It will be important that students don’t just summarize the book, but show and explain their thinking. My February Blog, “I Love Teaching Because...” can be found here. | Science- Mrs. Creath We have been learning about the muscular system this past week and started on the digestive system Thursday. Next week we will cover the circulatory system. At the end of the week, the kids will be dissecting earthworms!! | Social Studies- Mrs. PettidThis week students focused on Alexander the Great, working on a webquest throughout the week. We looked at the ways in which Alexander changed the ancient world and influenced the modern world. I also challenged them to think about what makes a leader “great”. Their webquest is due on Tuesday. On Tuesday, we will begin Rome - focusing on the Roman Republic. |
