Welcome New Staff

District 103 would like to welcome 17 certified staff to its schools for the 2020-2021 year, seven certified staff to Sprague.

Casey Chang - First-Grade Teacher

My name is Casey Chang. I grew up in Buffalo Grove and graduated from Stevenson. I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in TESOL from Taylor University and then taught in Indianapolis for the past five years. It was a great experience teaching in an urban setting with a diverse group of young learners. I am so happy to be back home in Buffalo Grove with my family and continuing my teaching career at Sprague! My hobbies include crafting, organizing, and traveling.

Caroline Dreifuss – Speech/Language Pathologist

My name is Caroline Dreifuss. I live in Chicago. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (1-L-L!), and my master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Rush University. I am the new speech language pathologist at Sprague! I am looking forward to getting to know all of the students and staff members whether that be virtually or in person! In my free time I like to play board games, work on puzzles, go on walks with my dog and hang out with my nieces! I can't wait to meet everyone!

Nellie Konkel – Learning Behavior Specialist

My Name is Nellie Konkel. I live in Chicago. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from Loyola University Chicago and my master's degree in Special Education from Dominican University. I will be working as a learning behavior specialist at Sprague School. My previous experience includes being a special education teaching assistant in Park Ridge and teaching in Palatine in an autism program. I am most excited about getting back to in-person learning at some point and meeting my students and all the staff face to face! My interests and hobbies include going to see my parents and siblings in New Orleans, and listening to my favorite artist, Dermot Kennedy.

Alexia Louras – First-Grade Teacher

My name is Alexia Louras. I live in Lakeview just a few steps from Belmont Harbor. I received my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from DePaul University in 2016, and I received my master's degree in ECE in 2019. In 2016, I worked at Sprague School as a kindergarten teacher's associate, and in 2018, I taught first grade in Chicago. I have come full circle and am thrilled to be teaching first-grade at Sprague School! | enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city by trying new restaurants, walking on the lakefront path, and exploring all that I can in beautiful Chicago! Despite my love for the city, I am so excited to be teaching in Lincolnshire again and back at Sprague with all the wonderful students and staff.

Suzy Park – Kindergarten Teacher

My name is Suzy Park. I live in Vernon Hills with my husband, two children and our puppy named Puddles. I received my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I also have a master's degree of Education in Reading and a K-12 reading specialist certificate. I have eight years of classroom teaching experience and have taught kindergarten, first-grade and early childhood special education. Last year I completed a leave of absence reading specialist position at Sprague School. I am excited to return to such an amazing school teaching part time kindergarten this year! In my free time I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Allison Smith – Art Teacher

My name is Allison Smith. I live in Johnsburg with my husband and my one-year-old son. I received my undergraduate degree in Art Education from Youngstown State University. While there, I played four years of Division 1 volleyball where I was a middle hitter. This will be my 10th year teaching elementary art. I am super excited to share my passion for art and to see how creative the children are with their artwork while I teach art at Sprague School. I have two cats named Ahchoo and Hey Blinkin'. I love spending time with my family playing and reading to my son, doing anything artistic, playing volleyball, listening to my husband sing and play the steel pan, traveling, doing karaoke, and playing cards and board games. I can't wait to meet the students and get to see their wonderful masterpieces!

Corrie Weinstein – Social Worker

My Name is Corrie Weinstein. I live in Arlington Heights. A graduate of Stevenson High School, I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri. I received my master's degree in School Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am excited to work as a social worker at Sprague School. My previous experience includes working as the school social worker at Woodview School in Grayslake District #46 and Willow Grove early learning center in District #96. I am most excited about meeting my new students and families whether it is virtually or in-person! My interests include baking, and spending time with my two adorable nieces (Maya - 3-years-old, Alexis - 18-months-old). I am so excited to be a part of the 103 family!
