PTO Information
There are many ways to be involved at Galatas! Please join an involved and hardworking team of parents and family members that make an impact on your child's educational experience. Please visit www.galataspto.com to complete the PTO checklist and learn all about involvement at Galatas.
STUDENT DIRECTORY 2019-2020
The student directory is just one of the many services provided by the Galatas PTO. IT is available as part of your family PTO membership. The directory is the only way to receive student information for play dates, birthday parties, and homework study groups (teachers and school staff are not permitted to give out student information and invitations may not be sent home in students' backpacks).
In order to be as inclusive as possible, we will be collecting directory information from the school. If you do not want your family information listed in the directory, you must opt out by e-mailing galatasdirectory@gmail.com by Friday, September 6.

Counselor's Corner
Lunch Bunch Counseling Groups
As the school counselor, I cover student relevant topics through classroom guidance lessons. I meet with each class several times during the school year and discuss concerns that affect elementary students. With a proactive idea of classroom guidance, your child will learn coping skills that he will be able to use when in certain situations.
I also offer small group counseling in the following areas based on parent and teacher recommendations. The small groups will be in the form of a “Lunch Bunch” where your child will come to my office during his lunch time to meet with other students who have been recommended for the same group. Your child will meet for 30 minutes and then go out for his grade level recess time. If I do not have enough students to make a particular group, I will contact you with recommendations of other resources available to you.
The groups are as follows:
Changing Families- A group for students who are dealing with the recent divorce or separation of their parents, or the family dynamics in the home have changed.
Coping with Illness- A group for students who are working through their emotions when they have a parent or immediate care giver with a serious illness.
New Kids on the Block- A group for students who are new to Galatas and are having trouble adjusting to a new school.
Making Friends- A group for students who are having trouble making friends but are not new to Galatas.
If you or your student are interested in this opportunity, please print the form below and return it by Friday, September 6, 2019.
Assistance Needs
Throughout the year, different organizations offer students and the families at Galatas Elementary assistance with school supplies, clothing, and other various needs. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, a federal law that makes student educational records confidential, prohibits us from releasing student information to these agencies without your permission. To help us work with these groups in the most efficient waypossible, we ask that if you are interested in such assistance, you complete and sign the form below. The form should be returned to Kristi Tabor, Galatas School Counselor.
These assistance programs vary from year to year. Giving us permission to release your information does not automatically mean you will receive assistance. It does let us know that you would welcome such assistance and would be willing to have your information released to these organizations. In turn, these groups agree to use your information only for the purpose of their assistance program(s). It is also required that your consent for release of information be updated annually. If you have a question, feel free to contact me at ktabor@conroeisd.net.
Please print this form below and and return to Galatas by Friday, September 6, 2019.
