Principal's Message

I hope everyone has enjoyed the long holiday weekend! This past week was a great week! I really enjoyed the enthusiasm and positivity our students showed on a daily basis at school. To me this means they are enjoying school and enjoying learning - that is awesome!

Attached below is the family and student handbook for this year, it is also found on our website. We will send home a copy of the signature page this week. We ask that it is sent back by the end of the week.

Have a wonderful week!

Covid Symptom Screening

Last year, we were able to remain in-person learning in large part due to the vigilance of our families by doing daily screenings of symptoms of children before arriving at school. The goal is to again remain in-person and pre-screening for Covid-19 symptoms prior to arriving at school is a great strategy to stay in-person. Please check daily for symptoms. If your child is not feeling well, exhibiting symptoms, and/or seem sick, please keep them home and allow them to rest and get healthy before returning to school. To return with after any Covid symptom there needs to be 24 hours symptom free without use of medication. We will make accommodations necessary to ensure your child is able to get missed work and get caught up upon returning.

Preschool Corner

This will be the weekly updates regarding preschool for our preschool families. This week was an awesome week welcoming our little mariners to school! We do have some updates. Below is attached a copy of the handbook and it is also available on our website. We will send home a copy of the signature sheet this week. Please return by the end of the week.

We will also host a Meet and Greet for Mrs. Gebhardt on Wednesday from 5-5:30pm at the St. Mary School playground. This is open to any preschool family and we will have popsicles for students! Mrs. Gebhardt is excited to begin with St. Mary on the 13th!

Reminder - The preschool schedule is:

4 Year-Old: Tuesday - Friday

3 Year-Old: Tuesday - Thursday

Morning Class: 8:30-11:30am (please try to drop off between 8:15 and 8:30am)

Afternoon Class: 12:30 - 3:30pm

We are searching for a new cafeteria manager at this time. Due to the abrupt nature of the change and at direction of the Cleveland Diocese Nutrition Services, we have to suspend the lunch program until a new cafeteria manager can be installed. We are exploring alternative options for lunch in an attempt to make this a short suspension. In the meantime, please send your child(ren) with a packed lunch from home. If there are any issues, please let me know so we can work with you to provide a solution.

Thank you for the continued patience and flexibility!

Volunteer Help!

Fr. Paul and myself are asking for volunteer help on Saturday September 11th at 10am. If you have a truck and/or a trailer (as well as your time) to help load up the can recycling next to the garage and take to a scrap yard, we could use your help! This recycling helps donate funds to our STEM program. We are also looking at ways to make this area more aesthetically pleasing and more efficient. If you are able to help and have a truck or means to transport the cans, we are grateful!

Please take a second to complete the transportation survey if you have not already. This will help us know the typical arrival and dismissal routines. If there is ever a change of routine, please notify Mrs. Settie. Thank you!

For the 2021-2022 school year we are consolidating our two information systems, formally FinalForms and Option C, into a single information system, Gradelink. Gradelink will be our grade system, our notification system, and registration system. Over the summer Mrs. Settie emailed families with individualized login information for Gradelink. Please check your emails for this notification from Mrs. Settie to get your Gradelink account setup. If you cannot find the notification email, please email Mrs. Settie so a new email can be sent with instructions.

Once you setup of your Gradelink account, please provide a current email address. If there are multiple email addresses you prefer to have available for the school to contact you, you should be able to provide multiple email.

If there are any questions on getting setup or about Gradelink, please let Mrs. Settie or Mr. Mitchell know.

MAP Testing

Beginning Tuesday September 7th, students in grades K-6 will begin taking the Fall MAP test. This test is administered three times each school year, Fall, Winter, Spring and is a very useful tool for students and teachers to evaluate learning and help make instructional decisions to create the best learning opportunities for students. The best preparation is to be well rested, eat a healthy breakfast, and give your best effort! Please check out the Family Toolkit Resources below for additional information on the MAP Test.
