IMLEA Monday Minute

August 14, 2017

Just a reminder: Early Registration Deadline is August 15

Tuesday is the early bird deadline to register for our conference on September 17-18. You can register a team and fill in the names later.

The group hotel rate is available through August 18.

For more details, you can visit the conference website or last week's Monday Minute.

Please note: We have had schools apply for an eLearning date for that day so that the entire staff can attend. Also, some schools have used PTO funds for registration.

Newsletter Changes: Making it Easier to Share

Because we know educators are moving away from paper and more likely to read electronically, we are going to make it easier for school IMLEA members to share our twice-annual newsletters with staff. District and school members will now receive a pdf version of the newsletter, which can be forwarded to staff, in addition to a few print copies. Individual members will still receive a print copy.

This Week's Poll Question

Is your school doing anything to study the Solar Eclipse on August 21? This link will take you to a google form to answer. We will post this on Twitter, Voxer, and Facebook as well. You can also use those social media platforms to exchange ideas! This week, we are allowing you to see the answers as they are shared.

There are many websites and apps for the eclipse, including this one from NASA.

Article of the Week: Ten Truths Middle Schoolers Should Know

From time to time we will share articles of interest for middle level educators. You've probably seen many articles with similar titles, but I felt this one did an exceptional job. I could envision it being used for some great discussions in advisory groups.

Time's Up!

Thanks for your time. Look for the Middle Level Minute every Monday. Coming next week: answer to the poll question, who is sending me this? and more! Don't forget: you can connect with us via our website, Facebook, Twitter, and Voxer.
