Gratitude
As we reflect during this 3-day weekend, and we look forward to our Thanksgiving Break, I want to pause to express my gratitude to our hardworking teachers, dedicated staff, kind children, and our devoted families. La Ballona is a great place to learn and to work. Thank you to all the people in our community who keep us going from day to day. It takes us all!

CCUSD Sponsor-a-Family December Holiday Program
CCUSD Sponsor-a-Family December Holiday Program-
CCUSD recognizes that the holiday season can be stressful for families who are most in need. Again this year, CCUSD School and Family Support Services is coordinating various district-wide efforts to support our CCUSD families in need during the holiday season to increase the joy and lessen the stress.
At this time, we are excited to announce our Annual Sponsor-a-Family Program. The program will enable families to provide gifts for a CCUSD family in need. Both families will remain anonymous. Prior to the Thanksgiving break, sponsor families will receive the list of wishes and needs for each member of one family. Our request is that the sponsor family purchase at least one wish and one need for each member listed. All gifts will be dropped off at iAcademy (located between Farragut and Culver City Middle School) on December 7 and 8. School and Family Support Services staff will distribute the gifts on December 13 and 14. If you are able to make the holiday season special for another family, please click on the link below and complete the form.

Safe Routes to School
This past weekend we set our clocks back an hour and the sun will set a little earlier. Which also means your walk or bike ride home from school will be a little darker. We encourage everyone to follow these simple steps to be more visible at night:
Wear lighter, brighter clothing. Reflective gear is even better.
Carry a flashlight to help you see and be seen.
Cyclists, be sure you have a front light and a rear reflector (both are required by law) and reflectors on your wheels as well. A rear light is even better.
Walk on sidewalks and be extra cautious at driveways and alleys.
Cyclists riding in the street, ride in a straight line away from the door zones. Riding in a traffic lane or bike lanes is more visible than riding against the curb, especially at night.
Cross at corners, preferably intersections with crosswalks
Stay extra alert when crossing streets
Drivers, please extra cautious. Kids can be unpredictable and are even harder to see in the dark.
