MAY 2020: PARENT NEWSLETTER (VIRTUAL RAWLINSON)
A message from Mireles
Hello Patriot families,
I hope this update finds you well and that your family is staying happy and healthy.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and I cannot thank our teachers enough for the incredible job they have done implementing distance learning for Rawlinson students.
Teachers have transitioned their homes into virtual classrooms, providing high-quality instruction from a distance. As I visit their virtual classes, I can see and hear their passion for education, daily. Students thriving in a learning environment that we never could have planned for.
Teachers collaborating for hours upon hours, late into the evening, to find new and innovative ways to engage their students. Teachers thinking WAY outside of the box, to capture the hearts and minds of their students.
I couldn't be prouder of my teachers!
Please take a moment, and thank a teacher.
Tag us in a note or picture thanking a Rawlinson teacher on our Twitter page. @NISDRAWLINSON
We are currently working on a safe and efficient method of distribution for the following:
- Items left in lockers
- Yearbook purchases
- Spring Picture pick-up
- Library book turn-in
Thank you for your patience as we develop the best possible course of action. These plans will be communicated to you soon.

The #TeachersCan initiative calls on Texans to Thank-A-Teacher by nominating educators for exclusive prizes that will be announced during National Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4-8, 2020.
Visit www.TeachersCan.org to nominate the teachers who have impacted your life and the lives of those around you.
Nominated teachers will be entered to win prizes that include gift cards from H-E-B, Valero, Whataburger, and others as well as the chance to win free groceries for a year, free gas for a year, home office equipment, fitness equipment, Kendra Scott jewelry, and a “back to school” bash when campuses are permitted to reopen.
You can join us in honoring teachers in a variety of ways, including:
- Sharing the #TeachersCan video, available through the website, and tag the teachers in your life
- Showing your appreciation for a current teacher in your life or one who had a significant impact on you personally by posting with #TeachersCan and #ThankATeacher
