Patriot's Pen
Week 17: January 7-11, 2019
A Message from Mireles
Hope everyone had a joyous and memory filled holiday season!
We had a house full for Christmas and New Years, at one point up to 16 kids, dozens of relatives, friends, and way too much food filled our home.
Current situation: is an overwhelming feeling of gratitude, blessings and a readiness to hit the gym!
The New Year gives us a moment to reflect, a clean slate, a new beginning, the next chapter that we get to write, it's exciting! Can't wait to hear about your holiday experiences and your new motivations. Gear up because we've got tons in store for this next semester at Rawlinson.
Cheers to the New Year, see you soon.
Farewell, and the best of luck as these Patriots embark on new adventures:
Officer Tom, Angela Lewis, Jodie Willeford and Fred Cibrian!
One of my favorite illustrations of Mindset!
Dust off your Mindset book and dive into Chapters 6 & 7
During the holiday season, I always reflect on the past year and start to think about the year to come. 2018 has been full of amazing changes and challenges. What I’ve loved the most is working with the best faculty, staff, and leadership team ever! The way our school family collaborates together to help our students and community is heart-warming. Each one of you contributes to the success of our school and your efforts don’t go unnoticed. It is incredible what we can accomplish when we work together for the greater good!
As we begin in 2019, I look forward to the second half of the school year. My hope for Rawlinson is that we will continue to encourage, support, and embrace change, that we will all commit to being part of the solution, and that we will influence each other to make positive decisions. There is still much to accomplish, but I know we are up to the challenge!
For now, I wish you and yours the very best of the holiday season! Take time to do what you like to do and recharge your batteries. I’ll close with some wise words from Anne Lamott: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes…including you.”
Yours truly,
Kim

A Message from Officer Tom
I want take this opportunity to thank everyone here at Rawlinson Middle School for being kind, understanding, helpful and having faith in me as your school based law enforcement officer. It has been such a pleasure to work with each and every one of you. I will especially miss the kids as I have grown so very attached to them. I enjoyed watching them grow over the past two years and wish all of them the best in both their social and academic futures. Although I leave Rawlinson Middle School, I will still be in the district at Rayburn Middle School so please feel free to shoot me an email anytime.
Thank you again for everything that you all have done to make it such a pleasure to work here. Rawlinson Middle School was the best campus I have ever worked. Wishing you all the best!
Super Hero of the Week!
Congratulations to our last Superhero of 2018, Ms. Potter.
This year, as in years past, Ms. Potter united everyone in providing Christmas cheer to those in need through her INTERACT club.
It took a cart and about a dozen “elves” just to get the toys out of her room. Additionally, Ms. Potter goes above and beyond for her students and colleagues. Congratulations, Ms. Potter.
