Hello VG Families & Staff,
Vista Grande’s Virtual School Library is now open! Students can log into Vista Grande’s online library catalog and order books for delivery at the following student material pickup. Deadline to order books for the September 10 student material pickup is Tuesday 9/1. Learn more below.
I’m so proud of how quickly our students and staff are adapting to remote learning. We’ve all heard the phrase, “Kids are so resilient.” When I visit remote classrooms, I see staff delivering high quality standards-based instruction, students engaged in their learning, and all helping each other succeed in this new learning environment.
Let’s talk stamina.
This week marked our first full week of instruction. If your child struggled to adjust to the regular day and full week, know this is a common experience felt by many students each Fall. Students are returning from summer vacation and haven’t been in a structured school setting since March. Their stamina for the regular school day is low. But, it won’t remain that way. Students adjust to their new schedules every Fall and this year will be no different. This adjustment is often hardest on our youngest students. Kindergarteners are transitioning from preschool to elementary school and our 1st and 2nd graders and moving from a short 3-hour day to a regular school day. Children may be emotional as they build their stamina and adjust to their new schedules. It is not uncommon for students of all ages to be angry, restless, tired, or teary during this time. These emotions stabilize as students adjust to new routines. If after some time, you do not feel your child is adjusting to school, please reach out to your classroom teacher.
Last, if you are having technical difficulties, know our teachers are teaching during the school day and may not be able to respond to you immediately. If difficulties are causing an attendance issue, please call the school office. Please see the Need Technology Assistance section below for general assistance.
Sincerely,
:) Principal Juergens
