St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 5 | 11 November 2022
Message from Geordie
Good afternoon all,
I would like to start by thanking everyone who filled in the Swimming Lesson Form last week. We had 80 families give their feedback and close to 90% of families felt that the current model was meeting the needs of their children. Considering this, we will be continuing with the program next year and while the timing is far from perfect, each year we will do our best to get more appropriate dates.
This week I spent a day with Tracy Cosgrove and our Year 3-6 teachers to discuss and moderate Persuasive Writing Assessments across the grades using the Brightpath Assessment Tool. This was a really interesting and engaging day with some excellent discussion on writing progression and how we teach writing to our students. I really enjoyed reading some of our students work and this information will now support 2022 reporting as well as being handed over to the following teacher for 2023.
This week I also had a visit from some of our Year 6 students who have been writing short conversational scripts in Indonesian. I was blown away by the fluency of their discussion and that they were able to explain clearly what was happening in their script! Very impressive!
Finally, thanks to all those who wished me well in my race last weekend. I am very happy to report that I am in one piece and while quite sore, really enjoyed the event!
Have a great weekend!
Geordie

And keeping it in the family, her sister Tanaya E in Year 5B will also be training with the team, big congratulations too!
Stationary Lists 2023
Booklists for 2023 will follow the same format as last year. The school will purchase all items and the $110 book list levy will cover the cost. This process allows the purchase of consistent and quality items at a discounted price, allows parents to pay this amount at a preferred time (in a lump sum or throughout the year) and allows the stationery to be delivered before the end of this year, to ensure a smooth start to the academic year.
Like previous years, Kindy to Year 2 will continue to share their stationery. The Year 3 to Year 6 students will use their own stationery and at the end of the year, any spare stationery will be sent home. Spare stationery from this year will be sent home in week 7 onwards.
Additional to the booklists students require:
- SBCPS Library Bag from Hip Pocket
- A small pencil case (around 10 x 20cm) – Year 3 to 6 students only
- Headphones (over the ear headphones please!) – Year 3 to 6 students only.
Library books
As a result, there will be no library borrowing for students from week 7 - 21st November.
MKR Recipe Books & Bernie's Garden
Year 6 chefs have been busy in the kitchen cooking up a storm and some tasty dishes for the MKR competition.
