PCHS PARENT News
April 19, 2019
Pirate Presence
Parents,
As the school year is winding down, we are required by the State of Missouri Department of Education, each year to report the time PCHS Students are present at school. The expectation is to have 90% of our students present 90% of the time. Last year, we reported 84% of our students here 90% of the time. Our current rate sits at 86% of our students here 90% of the time.
Ultimately, attendance is important. Research demonstrates that students who are in attendance more than 90% demonstrate a higher rate of success both academically and socially.
Even though we are seeing a slight improvement this year, we need to continue to have students here every minute, every hour of every day. We understand that there are occasions a student must be gone, however, we are asking that you continue to partner with us, encourage your student to be at school every day. Their success is important to all of us, and with your help they will achieve that success and increase our rate from last year, demonstrating great growth.
Thank you in advance for supporting your student and teaming with us to motivate students to be present in school. Your student depends on both yours and the schools' support for their success!
Take care,
Dr. Stephanie TheisPirates R.O.C.K. "Got Character?" Recruitment - Current Juniors

Yearbook - Last Chance to Order
The high school yearbook staff is holding their final sales drive of the year from now until April 26! This is your last chance to order the award-winning 2019 yearbook because WE DO NOT ORDER ANY EXTRAS!
The only way to secure your 2019 yearbook is by ordering through the website www.yearbookforever.com. You can add several personalized options through this site as well.
Please check the attached PDF to see if you've already ordered a yearbook for this year. I cannot issue refunds. It is current as of the morning of April 18. If your name is not on the list, you have not purchased a yearbook for this school year.
As a reminder, yearbooks are always distributed during enrollment in August. We do this so we can work on the book the whole school year and include spring sports, Prom, graduation, etc. If your current senior will be at college by then, and you are not able to stop by the office to pick it up, please contact me at johnsonk@platteco.k12.mo.us to arrange for another person to come to claim it.

Bullying and Safety Concerns
Safety is one of our district’s top priorities and to help safeguard our school community, our district is now using SafeSchools Alert, a tip reporting service that allows students, staff, and parents to submit safety concerns to our administration.
You and your student can easily report tips on bullying, harassment, or any safety issue you're concerned about through SafeSchools Alert.
Every tip SafeSchools Alert receives about our district is immediately logged in the system and our administration is notified so that they can investigate and take appropriate action. And, tips may also be submitted anonymously if you prefer.
Together, using SafeSchools Alert, we can make our district a safer place to learn!
