Liberty Parent Update
Liberty Elementary - Keller ISD
Update on Bond Election and how it impacts LES
To keep you in the loop, we have been in communication with the KISD Central Administration and Bear Creek Intermediate so our 4th grade Liberty Parents are aware of options for next school year. This coming year our students are going to South Keller Intermediate for 5th grade. Some families have inquired about a transfer to Bear Creek Intermediate for 5th grade. Our district is discussing logistics and working on a plan. Our district leaders are planning to meet with our families in the near future about this transition from SKI to BCI and what it entails.
We will keep you updated when we know more in regards to a date for a meeting as well as the process.
Thank you for your patience as we work to make this transition smooth for our kids.
Community Ambassador Program
KISD is gearing up for the new spring semester of Keller ISD Community Ambassadors and would like to once again invite our PTA parents to get involved and become a KISD Community Ambassador.
Get an inside out view and learn what Keller ISD is all about! “It is truly a great opportunity to find out more about the operations of this outstanding district and ask questions not only of the Superintendent and Board members, but the leaders that oversee every function (Governance, Finance, Learning, Technology, Business, Media Services, Human Resources and Leadership),” said Community Ambassador Len Avecilla.
What do I have to do to become a Keller ISD Community Ambassador?
· The time commitment is minimal (one meeting per month and we provide dinner).
· There are only 4 meetings per semester at various campuses/facilities district wide.
· The once a month meetings are from 6 pm – 8 pm; they are very informal and extremely interactive.
· At the 4th meeting of the semester we stage a graduation and provide each new Community Ambassador with an official Ambassador shirt.
Spring Semester Schedule – Community Ambassador meetings 6 pm – 8 pm:
- Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in the Board room (Rock Gym)
- Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Annex (2nd floor) The Annex is located on the west side of the district at 10310 Old Denton Road.
- Monday, March 23, 2015 at Timber Creek HS
- Monday, April 20, 2015 (Graduation) at Bear Creek Intermediate

Enter 2015 Keller ISD Film Festival, Jan. 5-March 16
The Keller ISD Film Festival is back and looking for student filmmakers to show off their creative talents behind and in front of the camera.
The festival is an opportunity for students to develop their visual literacy and expand their educational experience in Keller ISD by fostering the creativity, artistic, communication and technical skills required for producing a movie. Students have seven entry categories to choose from including: Story, Comedy, Music Video, Documentary, PSA Plus, and Animation.
Students have the chance to be honored at an Awards Ceremony on May 12, 2015, hosted at a new venue: the spectacular Alliance Cinemark XD Movie Theater. Students can win trophies, certificates, prizes, and more!
Also new this year is a category for Vine videos. Students are invited to produce an engaging and creative six-second video using nothing more than their smart device camera.
For more information on the Film Fest, including details on how to submit your entries, visit www.KellerISD.net/Film!
