Welcome to the SHAPE Michigan September Newsletter!
We hope you are having a wonderful start to the new school year! In this newsletter,
please read the reminders provided by Dr. Deb Berkey - SHAPE Michigan's
Executive Director. Our fall convention is quickly approaching - mark your calendar for our
annual convention - November 4th -6th in Lansing. Our convention line-up will be
sure to educate, engage, and excite you!
As a professional organization, we will continue to emphasize the
importance of quality physical education and health programs that facilitate
effective movement, knowledge and social emotional well-being in the
pursuit of healthy, active lifestyles.
We look forward to staying connected with each of you and assisting you
throughout the 2021-2022 school year!

1- We are partnering with Game On to bring you exciting fund-raising options! Look for additional information coming soon!
2- The calls for Award Nominations for Teacher of the Year, Meritorious Service and the Honor Award are open! Please nominate a deserving individual!
3- TriFound Grants are available. Apply for 1000.00! Perfect opportunity to raise funds for your program
4- The CATCH Grant Program and Professional Development Program are again available this year!! These are great opportunities and ways to enhance your program!

5- The State Convention will be held in Lansing November 4-6 in person. This will also be offered via streaming and will recorded. You won't want to miss our 'Better Together' event!
6- Virtual 2 HR MICIP Training on Oct 2 - Presented by Jessica Bucklin and Eric Swihart. Free for members. $40.00 for non-members (who, upon registering will become members)!

We will continue to offer E-blasts to keep our members informed, electronic newsletters to advocate for healthy, active lifestyles, the website will be stocked with resources for all members, and we will continue to use social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) for promotion as well!

Virtual Farm Tours of Local Michigan Dairy Farms
Bring agriculture to life as you and your students take a virtual field trip! Working on behalf of Michigan’s dairy farm families, Milk Means More invites you and your students on a FREE Virtual Farm Tour of a Michigan Dairy Farm. There are two dates to choose from.
Upcoming Tour Date: Oct. 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. of Walnutdale Farms
Teachers can register for their own Zoom link and the tours will be live streamed two ways:
1. Facebook Live – The live stream will be scheduled about one week prior to the tour and will be available here: https://bit.ly/2IYAxHT
2. YouTube Live – The live stream will be available on the Milk Means More YouTube channel.

CATCH is recruiting a limited number of K-8 schools to join the 2021-22 Whole Child Guided Journey as well as ways to engage with CATCH this year. Any K-8 school in the state is eligible to participate. As an added bonus, each school that engages with CATCH at any level this school year will receive one free SHAPE Michigan membership.
