Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
February 24, 2022
Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe that March begins this coming Tuesday. Ash Wednesday is next week and our Lenten journey begins. Hopefully, the weather brings more of a springtime feel as we also get ready to spring our clocks forward!
On Wednesday, March 2nd, our school community will gather for Mass and the distribution of ashes. Students will then begin daily Mass, Stations of the Cross, Lenten service projects, and moments of reflection on the spring cleaning of our hearts that will lead us closer to God. We are not just a school, but a faith community working together to find new opportunities to care for ourselves and others. May you and your families embrace this Lenten season.
Below are a few school updates and reminders:
- The second trimester ends on Friday, March 4th. Report Cards will be distributed on Monday, March 14th.
- Terra Nova testing begins on Friday, March 4th. Next week's newsletter will provide tips on how you can better prepare your child for testing week.
- The Continuous Enrollment deadline is Tuesday, March 1st. At that time, the registration fee for the 2022-2023 school year or opt out form is due.
- Our school community will once again offer our Lenten Service Project to the Paws With A Cause charity. To assist with our efforts, we are looking for donations of clean cheese ball or pretzel barrels. We are in need of one for each classroom. If you have any extra at home and could donate one to your child's classroom, it would be most appreciated.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
