Weekly Update - March 26, 2021
Spring has Sprung and Learning is moving back Outdoors!
Dear Selby Families,
We have welcomed the Spring weather this week. Students have enjoyed returning back to field and tarmac-style activities. With these warmer temperatures and rain, come mud! Please continue to send your child dressed for the weather and with extra socks, if possible.
This week we had some Minute-to-Win-it Challenges during morning and afternoon recess times. These were led by staff and students did very well in these challenges. See some photos below.
As Spring comes we start to think about next year. If you know you will not be returning to Selby next year, please give us a call to let us know. Thank you!

ASYMPTOMATIC COVID TESTING AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS
Students are invited to participate in voluntary asymptomatic testing (no symptoms) for COVID-19 during designated times. Families must book appointments for students using the assessment centre’s existing booking process (online or by telephone). Walk-ins are not permitted. Parent/guardian consent is required for testing of students under the age of 18. This testing is only for students, staff and bus drivers who DO NOT have COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 must self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19 at a Community Assessment Centre. Learn more and review the schedule for your student's school at https://bit.ly/LDSBAsymptomaticTesting
Little Caesars Pizza Fundraiser
Thank you for supporting our school with this fundraiser. Pick-up will be at the school on April 8. More information to come about the timing and organization of this.
Update about Childcare in the Selby area:
Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services (PELASS) and Limestone School Board wish to thank you for taking the time to complete the survey regarding the child care needs in the Selby area.
There was a significant need identified for a before and after school program. The next step is to seek interest from service providers. Limestone School Board will issue an Expression of Interest to area service providers.
If there is an interested service provider, we will continue our planning with a goal of a September 2021 start.
At this time we cannot commit that a program will be offered, but are exploring the viability. It would be our intent to inform families prior to the end of the school year (June 2021) if a program will be in place for September, to assist you in your child care planning for the 2021/2022 school year.
In addition, there was some interest identified for full day licensed child care for children 0-3.8 years of age. Further planning will be required to determine feasibility and viability of a full day child care program. PELASS will include this information in their broader system planning and will continue to look for opportunities to expand the system to meet the needs of families.
