March Update
Between us and the end of the year we have:
- Spring Classics Concert on March 26th
- UIL Concert and Sight Reading for Symphony Orchestra on March 29th at 6:30 PM
- UIL Concert and Sight Reading for Concert Orchestra on March 30th
- UIL Concert and Sight Reading for Chamber Orchestra on March 31st
- CISD Concert and Sight Reading Camerata Orchestra on April 2nd at TWHS 9th Grade
- Spring Trip to Memphis and Nashville on April 27th through May 1st
- End of the Year Banquet and Senior Sendoff on May 10th at The Woodlands Country Club
- Broadway Concert Dress Rehearsal 9-11:30 AM Philharmonic, Camerata, Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and 1 to 3:15 PM for Concert and Chamber Orchestras (May 14th)
- A Night on Broadway and Senior Sendoff Concert on May 14th at 7 PM
- Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition May 27-28 at UT Austin
In this newsletter, we kick off our Crescendo Fundraiser, share details about our Spring Classics Concert, our UIL Trips, our Trip to Nashville, and our End of the Year Banquet.
This is A LOT to keep up with, so please make sure to read this whole news letter, keep the link to this news letter to reference latter, and make sure to check BAND.
Students MUST wear their formal uniform and black socks/shoes. Boys will be given the green ties the night of the concert and MUST return them before they leave.
Auditorium Doors will open at 6:15 PM, and we will not have concessions available at this concert.
- 2:00-4 PM Officers Set up and Decorate Stage and Front Foyer
- 5:45 PM -6:00 PM All Orchestra Students Arrive (WEAR YOUR PERFORMANCE CLOTHES) STAY IN YOUR ASSIGNED ROOMS
Symphony Orchestra and Mariachi Members- LGI 2
Camerata Orchestra Room 141 (Fashion Design Room)
- 6:00- 6:15 PM Tune and Warm Up in Holding Rooms
- 6:15 PM take seats in the auditorium NO PHONES ON STAGE OR IN THE AUDITORIUM
- 6:30 PM Concert STARTS
- 8:30-9 PM ALL ORCHESTRA MEMBERS STAY TO CLEAN UP!
UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluations
Cello and Bass players will be taking school instruments to these events. Students will be pulled from school all day on their assigned contest day. Please do not bring backpacks the day you go to contest.
On Tuesday March 29th SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA WILL GO TO CONTEST:
- 7:45-8:00 AM Arrive in the Orchestra Room wearing normal clothes. BRING YOUR FORMAL UNIFORM, Your instrument/music, and a lunch
- 8-10:40 AM Rehearsal
- 10:40-11:12 AM Lunch
- 11:12-11:30 AM Change into formals
- 11:30 AM-12:00PM Pack up and load the busses
- 12:00 PM Depart TWHS for Klein Oak HS
- 1:00 PM Warm Up
- 1:30 PM Performance on Stage
- 2:00 PM Sight-Read
- 2:30 PM Load busses and depart for TWHS
- 3:15Pm Arrive TWHS
On Wednesday March 30th CONCERT ORCHESTRA WILL GO TO CONTEST:
- 8:45-9:00 AM Arrive in the Orchestra Room wearing normal clothes. BRING YOUR FORMAL UNIFORM, Your instrument/music, and a lunch
- 9-10:55AM Rehearsal
- 10:55-11:30 AM Lunch
- 11:30-11:45 AM Change into formals
- 11:45-1:30 PM Rehearsal
- 1:30 PM Pack up and load the busses
- 2:00 PM Depart TWHS for Klein Oak HS
- 3:00 PM Warm Up
- 3:30 PM Performance on Stage
- 4:00 PM Sight-Read
- 4:30 PM Load busses and depart for TWHS
- 5:15 PM Arrive TWHS
On Thursday March 31st CHAMBER ORCHESTRA WILL GO TO CONTEST:
- 7:45-8:00 AM Arrive in the Orchestra Room wearing normal clothes. BRING YOUR FORMAL UNIFORM, Your instrument/music, and a lunch
- 8-10:40 AM Rehearsal
- 10:40-11:12 AM Lunch
- 11:12-11:30 AM Change into formals and load bus
- 11:30 AM Depart TWHS for Klein Oak HS
- 12:30 PM Warm Up
- 1:00 PM Performance on Stage
- 1:30 PM Sight-Read

It’s almost time to celebrate the year at the Orchestra Banquet! We will be having our banquet at The Woodlands Country Club - Palmer Course on Tuesday May 10th at 6pm. All TWHS Orchestra students and family are invited to attend. Please purchase tickets by April 15th to attend.

Senior Pictures for Banquet
Our banquet is scheduled for Tuesday May 10th at 6pm. We will have a slideshow to showcase our seniors who are graduating. All pictures must be in jpeg format. Include full name in the subject line and email to shieldnstar5@msn.com by April 13th. Pictures not received by this deadline may not make the slideshow!
- 1-2 baby pictures
- 2-4 orchestra pictures (these can be school pictures, pictures with their instrument, etc)
- Graduation/senior picture (please include where they are going to school)

New Mariachi Ensemble
The Mariachi will perform on our March 26th and May 14th Concerts, and at the CISD Hispanic Achievement Celebration on April 21st at College Park HS.

Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest
This will take place on the Campus of UT Austin on May 28th. All qualified students, who wish to compete should talk with Mr. Michaelson if they haven't already.

This is also a great option for family, friends, or alumni of TWHS Orchestra who live out of town. Live Streams start 10 minutes before each concert.
