Live N Learn
Live N Learn is a local non-profit founded by a 2004 Sycamore graduate, Robin Hunsucker. Every summer, Live N Learn brings students from Spain to live with American families for four weeks. They are still in need of families with children 13-19 years old to host students this summer. They will match your family with someone the same age, gender, and with similar interests as one of your children. The Spanish students have been learning English since they were 3 and now are coming to the US to be immersed in the language and culture of the U.S. (so it is OK if your family doesn't speak Spanish). The student will be just like another family member.
Here are some quotes from past Sycamore host families:
"It has been interesting to experience our city through the eyes of travelers and to hear their opinions of the food, activities, etc. I love that my kids learned about a different culture and have built lifelong relationships at such a young age. It's also cool to compare and contrast our lives and realize that we are actually pretty similar."
"Our circle of friends and family has grown to include each of our students and their families. But it doesn't stop there - my family has developed friendships with many other families that have hosted. These friendships have gone much further than just our time hosting with Live N Learn."
They arrive on June 29th. If interested check out more info here: www.livenlearn.com/host or contact Robin at rhunsucker@livenlearn.com or 513-519-9786.
