Midterms/Evaluations
Portal
Portal link.
If you cannot get into the portal, this will be a big problem for midterm evaluations. Please see Sunny/Kari immediately.
Midterm self evaluations
In the portal, there is a place for self evaluations.
- Your coop and I will be evaluating you as well on a form exactly like this one.
- Rate yourself honestly for each element of each Domain.
- There is a link to the rubric for each element, and the email I sent you the other day is a complete document of all the rubrics.
- The comment box is a place for you to give evidence for your rating! Use it to show what you’ve done to support your case!
- For Domain 1 & 4 (especially Domain 4), I don’t observe these in the classroom, so this is where those Moodle spaces for you to post things you’ve done are extremely helpful. Alissa is the only person who has submitted evidence to Moodle, but not for 1 or 4.
During the conference
- I’ll meet with your coop first
- Then we’ll all meet together
- I will not save my evaluation until after our conference. This way, I can add things to the evaluation, in case there are things I’ve missed that you and your coop can help me understand. :)
- Remember, my whole purpose is to help you be the best teacher you can be, not to be unfair or scrutinize you. If you feel I missed something, take a deep breath, and let me know what you need so I can best support you.

Using Danielson to evaluate a magic lesson!
As a HUGE Harry Potter fan, I have often noted how J.K. Rowling makes an eloquent point of showing instances of good and not-so-good teaching in her stories. (If you haven’t read her book The Casual Vacancy, it’s a great read, although very sad, and makes a grand statement on education.)
- What evidence of effective teaching and learning do you see?
- How would you rate Professor Lupin in various elements of the Danielson Framework?
- How would you rate this lesson, overall?
