LCS Bulletin - January 2019
The Bulletin is published the first Friday of every month. We would love to share your upcoming events, educational strategies, or anything that our LCS community needs to know.
Submitting information is easy; email Lisa Cole, and be sure to add your full name, title, phone number, headline, and content. Include the who, what, where, when, and why in the body of your article so our readers will have all of the information they need. Add LCS Bulletin in the subject line of your email (so I can search and not miss anything!).
The deadline for publication is the 20th of each month. Information sent after the 20th will go into the next LCS Bulletin. The deadline for February's Bulletin is January 20th. We look forward to your submissions! If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Cole.

Family Engagement
ReadyRosie Family Engagement Program is Free for TPS English Learners
We are very excited to go into the New Year with over 1700 caregivers/students enrolled in ReadyRosie! ReadyRosie is a free comprehensive family engagement resource designed to empower PRK-3rd English learners’ parents and guardians as they partner to build successful student outcomes. We would like to continue to increase usage and get the word out about ReadyRosie for our English learners. As your school begins to plan family engagement events for this semester, ReadyRosie would be a great resource to highlight. You can use the Planning Your ReadyRosie Family Event to help with the planning process and selecting activities to do with families. The Possible Videos for Family Events resource will enable you to set up stations and activities to inspire families to engage in and enjoy learning together.
If you are interested in doing an hour or ten minute workshops for your families, ReadyRosie has Family Workshops and Give Me Tens resources readily available. The library of workshops include a Powerpoint, Facilitator’s guide, flyers to advertise, and surveys. You can find the Family Workshops and Give Me Tens online in the Resources section.
If you have any questions and need any assistance with planning family engagement events, please reach out to your ELD Coordinator.

WIDA eLearning Professional Development
Oklahoma is a pilot state for WIDA's new eLearning modules, and Tulsa Public Schools is excited to be a part of this WIDA pilot program.
***From now through June 30, 2019, every educator in Oklahoma that has a WIDA website login or requests a WIDA website login will have free access to four self-paced eLearning modules designed to help educators use best practices in meeting the needs of their English learners.***
The modules may be used by individuals or PLCs, and each provides resources and handouts to aid educators in putting their lessons into practice. Users will be able to print professional learning certificates to document completed training(s).
Here is the process for uploading certificates for PD points:
- Sign in to Frontline and go to “My Info”
- Scan your certificate and upload it into your “My File Library”
- Complete the Historical PD record form under the FORMS tab (make sure you include the appropriate number of hours and check the box to the certificate from your library)
After the form is submitted, an email will trigger to your site principal asking him/her to review and approve the form and then those hours will be added to your transcript.
The Foundational Concepts module would be a great start for those who plan to take the Oklahoma ESL Certification exam.
You can complete the modules in any order at your own pace.
HOW DO I LEARN MORE?: Please consult this WIDA Self-Paced eWorkshops flyer.
If you have questions or do not have a WIDA login, please reach out to Lisa Cole, ELD Coordinator.
