William Howard Taft
President from 1909-1913
His Life
Born on September 15th, 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He later attended Yale and graduated 2nd in his class. Then studied law at the University of Cincinnati. Later moved to a position in the Philippines as governor and improved the economy. He was appointed the Secretary of War and by 1907 Roosevelt decided that he wanted Taft to be the next president.
Career as President
The only US president to be Chief Justice of the Supreme court.
Somewhat carried over Roosevelt's plans as president. But ultimately failed to see through with the ideas.
Passed the 16th amendment about taxing income without states approval.
Dollar Diplomcy
One of the more notable accomplishments of Taft was his Dollar Diplomacy which the US gave loans to other countries to improve foreign sales of goods.
