The Toaster
By Dane Pearce
How electricity has changed making toast.
The first way to make toast was to put the bread over the fire to toast the bread. Then in 1909 more advanced electric toasters were made where the person had to put the bread in the toaster and wait until it was ready. In this toaster, you could only toast one side at a time.
In 1926, Charles Strite invented a toaster where you could change the darkness of the toast, cook two sides at once and the toast 'popped up' when it was ready. Today, toasters are safer so kids can use them and much easier and quicker.
