February Reminders

Feb. 15th NO SCHOOL President's Day

Valentine's Day

This year we are unable to have students bring in any treats (including store bought) or valentines from home. Each individual classroom will be celebrating Valentine's Day in their own special way. We know the joys that these types of holidays bring to students, so we will be celebrating in other creative ways. Thank you for understanding that our precautions are in place to help keep kids healthy and in school!

Can my child go to school?

We know that this year presents a whole new layer to this question. We have attached a flow chart (below) to hopefully make your decision easier. Please pay special attention to the symptoms in the number 3 red box: fever, (100.4+) undiagnosed rash or sores, new loss of taste/smell, diarrhea, vomiting, or an unexplained change in behavior.

We also ask that you keep your child home if they have been exposed to COVID-19 or have come into contact with someone that is COVID positive.

If you are in doubt, call the school and one of us will gladly answer your questions you have.

We thank you for your continued support in keeping our students and staff healthy and in school.

Winter Weather

Yes, we are in the middle of another cold Keno winter! While we haven't had much snow, there have been some pretty cold days.

Please remember that we still go outside for recess in the cold winter weather. It is important that students dress for the conditions and are prepared with proper clothing for their outside time. Hats, gloves, coats etc. need to have the child's name written inside of them so we can make sure the student is able to get the item back in the event it is lost. We do not have a lost and found so this will ensure that clothing items aren't lost forever.

School Closures

As we continue to navigate the winter months, school closures due to snowy weather are possible. The school district will communicate with you through One Call Now, as well as local media outlets to make sure you are aware of the closure.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL, DISTRICT OFFICE, OR MEDIA STATIONS ABOUT SCHOOL CLOSURES. The KCSD has arrangements to make sure the information gets out to you.
