Assessment Feedback!
An ETF Funded OTLA Digital Project
An Education and Training Foundation funded OTLA digital project
Welcome
How Is It Going?
Communication & Collaboration
As a group, we've had face to face and telephone catch-up meetings to plan the next phase of the project. A recent face-to-face meeting included teacher participants from different providers. It's an exciting and hectic time for the teachers getting to know their learners, so we are pleased that they made time for the project. Getting teachers together to share their ideas, talk about challenges has been one of the best parts of this project.
What We Have Done So Far?
Commitment & Training
The teacher and learner participants have been identified and the forms of digital feedback they will be using has been agreed. SurveyMonkey questionnaires were designed during the face-to-face meeting and focus groups have been planned. Training has been given to the teacher participants and we now wait for the first wave of formative feedback!
What We Learned So Far?
That staff are keen to embrace and experiment with innovative forms of feedback! Across the project partners many staff are, often in isolation, utilising many differing forms of feedback - both traditional and digital but there is no real clear sense of what works. We aim to change that!
There is a wide range of software and apps available to staff to deliver feedback; the sheer scale of choice can be overwhelming. This project will be able to give guidance on the pros and cons of using digital tools to give feedback, which will be relevant to many different apps and software packages. Engagement with learners is about to begin; this information will come in thick and fast soon!
Reflections...
Collaboration between the participants has been seamless and effortless, with effective progress made whether face-to-face or at distance. This highlights that a subtle, underpinning element of the OTLA projects: collaboration between colleges, is possible and valuable.
The timeframe in which we are conducting this project is tight. This may be positive in terms of focusing minds and ensuring that the project doesn't meander and lose impetus; however, it also means that hard decisions have to be taken about what projects can realistically achieve.
