FIRST MONTH OF SCHOOL COMPLETE!
This has been a crazy first month of school - construction on 68th Street that never seems to end, field trips that are scheduled and then postponed, All-School worship that is outside, and ½ days because of the heat. No matter the challenges, we have had a wonderful beginning of of the school year. In spite of rising numbers of COVID cases in our community, we have been relatively unaffected. We have had a more normal school year with activities like 8th grade retreat, middle school sports and our weekly worship time at both campuses. October will be another busy month. Some of the activities include picture day, all school worship time, CEA Convention, field trips and some other fun events still being planned! As we participate in these activities I ask that you continue to be mindful of protocols we have in place and let's continue to work to make sure that we all stay safe and healthy so that we can all be at school as much as possible.
Pictures will be posted to the website for viewing usually on the evening of the day the pictures are taken. The website is huttengaphoto.shootproof.com (do not key in "www"). The access code is "legacy829". Order forms will come home on the day your student's picture is taken. If you do not get a form, you can pick one up in the school office, or print the one attached to this newsletter. Please view your child's pictures online as soon as possible to determine if you will need retakes. Instructions for doing so are on the order form. Starting this year, you will now be able to place your order on line instead of on paper if you would rather. Retakes are Friday - OCT. 15. Please notify Karen Huttenga by email no later than Oct. 13, if you need retakes.
Picture schedule for elementary is as follows: Wednesday-6th: MWF Prek, 1V, 1/2L, 2G, 3V, 3/4H, 4HH. Thursday-7th: TTH PreK, KR, KS, Young 5's. Retakes will be Oct. 15.

We will be having a guest speaker, Dan Landstra, come speak with parents later this month. He will be specifically addressing screen time with teens, and the effects that it has on them. While this is targeted towards west campus parents, this is an opportunity for all parents to attend. It is never too early or late to address the issues that come along with technology, especially as kids younger and younger are starting to use it! Please see the attached flyer for more information.
