PY5 studied chromatography for their 2017 Science week activity. Chromatography is a process used to separate different compounds in order to identify each one. We used this process to identify the chocolate thief who shamefully raided our room during break-time and we made our arrest!
For Science Week PY5 class studied air pressure. We experimented with the task of putting a hard-boiled egg into a bottle without touching it. After many theories we watched in amazement as the egg was sucked into the bottle with the help of a flame. What had happened? Our minds and ideas were buzzing as we tried the experiment again, even trying it with a water balloon!
For Earth Day this year PY5 constructed solar ovens to cook melted cheese on toast – we are masters of cooking without damaging the environment! We also wrote a cinquain poem as a class, to express our concern about the damage being done to our planet

The boys are very proud of their national costume and wear them at every opportunity.
PY5 students are very encouraging learners who support one another in all curriculum areas. The students learn effectively in pairs, small groups and as a whole class.
