#YeagerBuzz
Summer 2020 Edition
Message from the Principal
Hello Yellowjackets!
I hope you have had a great summer! It has been a busy and challenging one for Yeager as we have been making plans to safely reopen school in the fall with guidance from the state.
We know that this time apart has been difficult for everyone, but if we all work together to practice social distancing and wearing our masks, the sooner we can all return to our normal routines.
This is a brief overview of some of the changes we are planning for in the 2020-2021 school year.
Health & Wellness
· All students and staff must screen daily for symptoms of COVID-19.
· If you feel sick, please stay home!
· Hand sanitizing stations will be very visible throughout the building, including in every classroom! Please utilize these often, especially after touching surfaces or people.
· When washing hands in the restroom, scrub with soap for at least 20 seconds to ensure removal of germs.
Safety
· Students in grades PK-12 and all staff will wear face masks on buses, hallways, common areas, and when social distancing is not feasible, including in classrooms, to the extent it is developmentally appropriate.
· We are encouraging appropriate distancing whenever possible. Remember to try to keep your distance from each other.
· You are going to see a lot of new signs this year – reminding you of appropriate distancing guidelines and good hygiene practices.
Learning
· Learning will look a little bit different this year. You must log into the Home Access Center to complete the questionnaire explaining the 2 options and asking for your commitment in starting the year.
· The first option is on-campus. This is daily instruction at school.
· We will be encouraging distancing as much as possible including providing table top shields between students.
· Make sure you aren’t sharing items such as your devices, pens, pencils, etc. so we can limit spreading germs to one another.
· The second option is remote. Remember Learning at Home last spring? Well that’s so last year! CFISD Connect is all new and WAY BETTER! Through a combination of activities, you will be able to participate in two-way instruction with your teacher through live and recorded lessons and a variety of activities. And teachers will be monitoring your progress daily!
· Attendance counts this year – whether you select the on-campus option or the remote option, your teacher will be taking attendance.
· And, I hope you heard the great news, by the end of the fall, all CFISD students will be provided with a Chromebook computer.
Facilities
· Our custodians have been thoroughly cleaning our facilities to prepare for your return.
· Between classes, our teachers will spray down high-touch surfaces such as desks and sanitize computer keyboards.
· Each day after school, the custodians will use hospital-grade disinfectant to clean all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, cafeteria tables and desks, and refill all hand sanitizing stations.
Buses
· If you are a bus rider, you will be required to wear a face mask on the bus.
· And don’t forget to sanitize your hands as you enter and exit the bus!
· Bus drivers will be disinfecting all the seats and hand rails in between routes.
Breakfast & Lunch
· In addition to our cafeteria tables being wiped down before and after breakfast service and each lunch period, we will be spacing out students as much as possible.
· To reduce the number of surfaces the students will be touching, there will not be self-service menu options.
Visitors
· We will try to meet with you either by phone or by computer, if at all possible.
· If we schedule an appointment with you to come on campus, all visitors will be required to wear face masks and must answer health screening questions before being admitted.
· Unfortunately this year, we will not be able to have lunch visitors.
I know I have covered a lot here today, but remember that we are here to help. If you aren’t sure of something, ask a teacher or administrator and we will assist.
You can always find more information and resources on the CFISD website at www.cfisd.net.
Best regards,
Laura Barrett, Principal

2020-21 Annual Student Information Update
This year the district launched the Annual Student Information update, which will replace the paper-based Student Demographic Card/Sheets that are distributed at campuses each year.
This process will reduce the emails or handwritten updated information sent in to the registrars.
Changes in address or other critical information will be held in an electronic file and tagged for the registrar to review.
Parents/Guardians received an email from Information Services with instructions and a unique “snapcode” to use to update the information and it is located in HAC.
Continued Enrollment Procedures
Apartment and Residential Leases- Current leases must be kept on file for each student for continued enrollment. If your lease has or will expire before the start of the 2020-2021 school year, a current lease will be needed.
All students on a Verification of Address Affidavit that have not completed the second required step of providing 3 documents with the correct address and their name as proof of residence will need to reenroll with a new affidavit and complete step 2. The affidavit is to establish residency for a student who is living with a parent/guardian in a residence that they are not owning/renting. Form must be submitted along with the homeowner's copy of photo ID, current light, gas or water bill along with lease or homeowner verification such as HCAD records or mortgage statements.
Failure to have current, up to date residential documents will result your child not receiving a homeroom assignment and/or starting school on the first day of the 2020-2021 school year.
Paperwork may be sent to our registrar, Bianca Ruiz via email at bianca.ruiz@cfisd.net or for questions about your residence paperwork, you may contact her at 281)587-7508.
Spirit Shirts
Please use this link to purchase your 2020-2021 Spirit Shirts! We are excited to offer both t-shirts and hoodies this year. Spirit shirts will ONLY be available online this year. We will not be selling spirit shirts on campus. Remember, even if you are starting off the year with CFISD Connect, you will want to show your Yeager Spirit virtually!
