Sucessor of Sethnakht
Ramses III is from a royal descent, his father Sethnakht were king before him. Ramses III have reigned from about March 1186 to April 1155 BC. He kept the line of egyptian kings of his predecessors.
A great military leader
Defeating many times the Lybians invaders, Ramses III were a great war leader. He also won sea battles against the Sea People. Crushing all the enemies forces who were trying to take possesion of his kingdom, he made Egypt an impregnable land.
Assasination and attempt of coup d' etat
Ramses were killed during an putsch attempt. The conspiracy were lead by one of his wife, Tiye, to make his son Pentaweret access to the power. The putsch failed and almost 40 people were sentenced to death after many trials.

The temple is in the Luxor region, and is accessible to visitors today.
