Principal's Letter
Dear Lake Windward Families,
The last two weeks have been exciting at LWE! Two weeks ago was Reading Celebration Week and our students enjoyed dressing up according to our daily themes and participating in our book fair. Even with supply chain issues, Lake Windward students and staff purchased $17,089.90 worth of book fair items! A portion of those sales will come back to our school media center and will be used to purchase new resources for students and staff! Thank you so much for supporting our school book fair! It was amazingly successful!
Last week we celebrated Exceptional Children's Week! Students and staff from our special needs program classes took over our daily announcements. We got to highlight the abilities and exceptionalities of ALL LWE children! We learned about adaptive technologies that some of our students use to communicate and got to participate in some Para-Olympic activities in our PE classes. Books were read, videos watched and lesson plans taught to help our general education students better understand what it might be like to have a disability and help them to have a more inclusive outlook on life. Our week's celebration also included an ECW Talent Show. We were so grateful to get to continue this LWE tradition this year and have a live show! Our students and staff in the show worked so hard to create a program that was fun, creative and engaging to watch. I am already looking forward to next year's program!
In conclusion, I know you will want to join me in congratulating our assistant principal, formerly Ms. Heather Farrar, on her recent marriage. She is now Mrs. Heather Rucker! We wish her many years of love and happiness! She promises to be patient with us as we get used to her new name. :)
Thank you for your continued support of our school!
Have a great week!
Warm regards,
Julie Morris
