A Thought or Two From Mr. Nieslanik
I have to say, I enjoyed the laid back, minimalist Thanksgiving we had this year. My oldest daughter was in attendance but it was only three of us as my youngest daughter was unable to return to PDX from Denver. I needed the small respite from the ongoing busy schedule of school and meetings. We only have two weeks left before Winter Break, and I know these days will simply fly by. I also know that we are in an awkward stage of grade reporting and updating. Classes that began in November will not have a progress grade update until January, but classes that are continuing from the first quarter will have a formal grade update on Friday, December 4th. If you have any questions about your child's grade, please reach out to the teacher. Email is best during CDL, and a teacher can be reached at First Name_Last Name @ beaverton.k12.or.us.
I thank you for your patience, your support, your flexibility, your grace, and your partnership in this crazy, crazy school year. For it is true, without you, we would never be able to navigate the complexities of Comprehensive Distance Learning.
As always, if you have any questions, please reach out. You can best reach me through this LINK.
Until Next Time,
David

Holiday Sharing
One thing we know about our community is that when times get challenging, WE STEP UP!! With CDL and COVID 19, this year's Holiday Giving efforts will be more important than ever before and creates many challenges along the way. Here is what we have done to assist our local feeder school children and families this holiday season. There will be 3 options to give and/or help contribute to the Southridge Holiday Giving program. Please choose one that best fits your planning and participation this year.
Option 1: If you would like to opt into fulfilling an actual gift this year, take a few minutes and submit a request using this google form. There will then be a follow up email to let you know what gift you can provide. Once you have bought your gift you will need to drop it off at the school (must be new with tags still on and unwrapped). Gifts will be due to the school before December 14th. Sign-Up HERE!
Option 2: Drop off a Gift Card to the school for holiday giving that will go into a local family's holiday box. Gift cards are preferred to be in the increments of $20-$25 dollars, feel free to donate whatever amount you feel comfortable with. Gift Cards should be for accessible local establishments like Target, Walmart, SafeWay, etc. Drop off Gift Cards at the main office of the school, simply tell our staff that it is for Holiday Giving. Gift Cards are due no later than December 14th. Let us know you will be participating in this way, Sign-Up HERE!
Option 3: Use the schools Online Payment System to donate any amount to the Southridge Holiday Giving fund that will be used to fulfill wish list gifts for our local BSD children. Using this Link to Donate: https://bit.ly/srhsholidaygiving2020. Select Southridge, select Donation for Holiday Giving, enter amount, add to cart, and donate!
If you have any questions, please contact Activities Director, Joe Traeger.

SRHS Athletics Update
Southridge Sports Update:
As the excitement mounted in November to get our athletes back on campus to start working out, we were sorely disappointed when our indoor sports were put on hold due to the governor's orders.
However, we are excited to have our outdoor sport athletes on campus working out and getting to see coaches and teammates. We have had an average of 80 athletes a day coming onto campus twice a week for 90 minutes of practice. Every athlete has been so excited and happy to be back at school and interacting with each other. We will keep our fingers crossed that indoor sports will be able to resume at some point in the near future.
The OSAA will be making an announcement soon regarding it's plans for high school sports and Beaverton School District will then adjust as needed for our Season 2 sports. We will update everyone as soon as we know more in the coming weeks.
Congratulations to the following Skyhawks!
