Holland Intermediate Weekly Update

August 8, 2022

Principal Message

Hi Holland Families,

The summer is quickly coming to an end, and we are gearing up for the 2022-2023 school year. This will be the inaugural year at Holland Intermediate school, and I'm excited for the opportunity to work with your 4th and 5th grade students.

My name is Andy Evans, and I am extremely grateful to be your child's principal. This is my 4th year in the district and second as principal. This year I am excited to have Jenna Moden as my Assistant Principal. Mrs. Moden is in her second year at Springfield, but she has been in education for 12 years.

Much excitement comes with a new school year, but I recognize that change is not easy for all students. Hopefully the Springfield Jumpstart will help with the transition. This new setup allows for the teachers to focus on using the first few weeks of school to build the much needed positive relationships that support successful learning.

Finally, parents can look forward to this communication to be shared every Sunday. I can't promise there won't be "bumps in the road" with the transition to a new building, but I can promise that we will do everything in our power to make the school year the best experience for everyone involved.

Andy Evans, Principal

Our theme for the school year is GAMES!

We currently have 3 teams in 4th grade and four teams in 5th grade. Each team will have their own video game theme, and we hope it will provide some fun and healthy competition throughout the school year.

2022-2023 Springfield Jumpstart

Springfield Local Schools are excited to begin a new tradition entitled, Springfield Jumpstart, with the goal of providing a more personal touch to start the school year. In lieu of a separate Open House, each school (PreK-3 and 4-5) will provide an opportunity for K-5th grade homeroom teachers to meet with families individually and assess students during 45-minute appointments over a four-day period. This will give families and students a special time to get to know teachers, see the classroom, drop off supplies, tour the building and take care of any start-of-school housekeeping issues like updating contact information, paying fees, etc.

There will be no classes for any K-5 student(s) on these dates: August 24th-29th; only pre-scheduled appointments with teachers. Families of students entering 1st-5th grades should have received an email with a link to make an appointment with their students’ teachers.

If you have not received a link, then please email Amanda Wilhelm at amandawilhelm@springfield-schools.org

As the start of the school year nears, please visit the Springfield website for all 2022-2023 Back to School information including supply lists, calendars and important dates. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to meeting you in August.
