MAP/MPG FYI
Do you have a student who missed out on the MAP/MPG test? Students in K-1 can take the Screener for Early Literacy or Math and receive an overall RIT score on these tested skills. Also, students in grades 2-3 can take the Surveys in Reading and Math and also receive an overall RIT score.
Do you have teachers who aren't familiar with how to apply MAP/MPG results into their instruction? Check out the Interactive Activities to Support RIT scores (bottom left of the webpage) here. Khan Academy has developed MANY resources associated to RIT range that are also a great free resource!
Do you still have questions about MAP? Reach out to Erin or Natalie and we can help!

Winter OAAP Testing Rosters
The 2015-2016 Oklahoma Alternate Assessment Program (OAAP) will utilize two different assessment systems. Social Studies will be assessed through the Pearson Portfolio system. The subject areas of Math, English/Language Arts and Science will be assessed through the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Alternate Assessment System.
WINTER (DLM) December 3, 2015 to January 8, 2016-ELA and Math
WINTER (Pearson Portfolio) November 16, 2015 to January 8, 2016- U.S. History
Please note, only 2nd time test takers and high school seniors are allowed to test during the winter window. The winter window is only available for EOI subjects in ELA, Math and U.S. History.
In order to set up testing for students needing to test during the winter EOI OAAP window, please complete the student roster, submitting one roster per school site. Include the following information:
- Subject (English 2, English 3, Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II, or US History)
- School Name
- State Student ID
- TPS Student ID
- Student First and Last Name
- Roster teacher information, including the teacher’s certification number
Please email Erin or Becky if you need the Excel template to create the roster for your school.
All rosters for winter OAAP testing must be submitted to Becky Baker, bakerre@tulsaschools.org using the Excel template by November 11th.
DLM Training Opportunity
Special Education and Assessment are teaming up for an open lab for new and returning teachers who will be using the Dynamic Learning Maps platform on Tuesday, October 26th from 1:30pm- 5:00pm in the Enrollment Center computer lab. We will be assisting teachers in completing the required training modules for administering the DLM assessments.
ASPIRE testing is only 2 weeks away! Here's some tips on how to be prepared for the day of testing:
- Check your computer labs. The ASPIRE TestNav icon should be appearing on your student computers (when you log in as a student). If you don't have the icon, please send Erin the computer name and we'll get it loaded for you.
- Remember, computers used for testing must operate on Windows 7. Windows XP is not supported. To upgrade a computer, it will cost approx. $51
- Train your test administrators- keep a record of who was trained on ASPIRE.
- FYI- students with Text-to-Speech accommodation automatically will have extended time of 300%.
******OCCT/EOI Trainings-REQUIRED*******
After you have attended a training, you will receive a certificate from the SDE. Please mail or email a copy of your participation certificate once you have completed the training to Vicki Shannon.
We will have a refresher training in the Spring prior to state testing in April.

OCCT/EOI Non-Standard Testing Accommodations
Non-standard accommodations are accommodations offered for students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504. All accommodations different than the standard Oklahoma State Testing Protocol (OSTP) accommodations for use on OSDE State-wide assessments require prior OSDE approval. If you have a student who was approved for this accommodation last year, the application must be resubmitted again this year.
UNIQUE ACCOMMODATION (NS1):
Students requiring an accommodation not specified in the IEP/504 Accommodations Manual in order to access the state test, may apply for a Unique Accommodation. Form U can be found here.
READING TEST READ ALOUD ACCOMMODATION (NS2):
The State Department of Education has developed a protocol for determining whether or not a student may qualify for a one-time nonstandard accommodation for a read aloud on a Reading/ELA state assessment. For the purposes of the Oklahoma State Testing Program (OSTP), a nonstandard accommodation is defined as:
- An accommodation that is needed for the student to access the assessment but not included on the allowable list of accommodations and requires OSDE approval.
- The use of a nonstandard accommodation on the OSTP without OSDE approval may result in a testing invalidation.
- Non‐standard accommodations are intended for a small population of students.
NSA Reading Test Read Aloud paperwork
All nonstandard read aloud accommodation requests must be submitted to the Office of Accountability, Assessment with all required documentation, on or before Tuesday, January 18, 2016 by 4:00pm. Submissions will be reviewed by Assessment and Special Education prior to the OSDE submission deadline.
