Frisco ISD Council of PTAs News
JUNE 2023 / JULY 2023

LETTER FROM DR. WALDRIP
Dear PTA Members,
With the summer in full swing, the work in Frisco ISD has not stopped! This week, principals gathered to reflect on the 2022-23 school year and plan for the next year.
Meanwhile, Wortham Intermediate and Wilkinson Middle School are under construction, and
staff are anxious to get into the buildings in anticipation of the schools opening in August. The
Career and Technical Education Center expansion is also underway, and you can see the walls up when you drive by on Ohio Drive! The new campuses and the CTEC expansion are some of
the final pieces related to the bond measures approved in the 2018 bond.
The Human Resources team is also hard at work actively recruiting and hiring for all positions for the 2023-24 school year! There's a job fair on May 30th. If you know someone interested in a career with Frisco ISD, please encourage them to attend the job fair or explore the opportunities at www.friscoisd.org/employment.
There's a lot going on around the District and we look forward to seeing everyone again August!
Wish you and your child a fantastic summer,
Dr. Mike Waldrip
Frisco ISD Superintendent of Schools
LETTER FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Hello PTA Families!
This year seemed to fly by!! We survived and accomplished so many great things. It has been so fun to see traditional events come back to the campuses and new traditions formed. We are so looking forward to next year and what can be done!!
Congratulations to our 2023 Seniors! We know that FISD has prepared you to thrive and succeed in the next chapter of your lives. Also to our 5th and 8th graders who will be transitioning to new schools. Parents, we can take comfort in knowing that our district has prepared our children well.
In the fall, we will be starting off 73 PTA/PTSAs strong! It will be a great year as we add Wilkinson MS PTA, Wortham Intermediate PTA and Independence HS PTSA. We will continue to operate Frisco Threads, the clothes closet to help over 8,000 economically disadvantaged Frisco ISD students. We look forward to getting the local PTAs more involved with this endeavor. We also hope to continue the success that we have seen with Membership. Over 41 campuses saw a membership increase this year and as a District we were up over 1,300 members. Congratulations to all of you for that!
Before we jump to all that excitement that the fall will bring, I hope you have a wonderful, memory filled summer! It has been my honor to serve this District and Council as the President for the last two years. It is such a privilege to get to aid FISD educators in making our students even greater and hopefully bringing some additional fun to the campuses. I am excited to continue to serve on Council in another role as Cyndi Arakas takes the helm!! She is going to continue to make Frisco shine.
Happy Summer!
