RBHS BRIDGE Communication

Rock Bridge High School Newsletter: January 17, 2023

Mission: Rock Bridge High School is a community in which ALL students and staff inspire each other to become lifelong learners.

Rock Bridge Families,

Welcome back from Winter Break! First semester grades were available in Home Access on January 6th. We are currently nine days into second semester, and this is the perfect time to set realistic academic goals for this spring. We encourage families to discuss current Semester 2 courses with their Rock Bridge students and help create well though out goals. Remember that goals are only as effective as we make them, so build in some action plans for achieving these goals and some "check-up" dates that will help keep these goals visible and relevant.

RBHS Course Fair

Dear Rock Bridge Families –

YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THE 2023 RBHS COURSE FAIR!

This year’s Course Fair will be held on Tuesday, January 24th between 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM in the Rock Bridge Media Center.

The Counseling Department will be hosting a Registration Presentation for parents at 5:00 PM in the Media Center, immediately preceding the Course Fair. During the Parent Presentation, counselors will go over the registration information presented to students the week of Jan. 9th. This includes the basics of completing the Course Request Form, scheduling parameters, and graduation requirements.

The Course Fair is a great opportunity for you to talk to teachers about topics such as:

  • Topics covered in classes of interest and sample student work
  • AP, Honors, and Dual Credit classes
  • Electives offered at Rock Bridge and the Career Center

You will also have an opportunity to meet with counselors for Q&A and assistance completing Course Request Forms, and get information about the A+ Program, Summer School, and the Early College Program.

We hope to see you there!

Before and After School Tutoring Opportunity

Families of Rock Bridge,

As we get further into the spring semester and students are diving into their course work, we want to make sure that everyone has access to the schedule for our new ELA and Math Tutoring signup. This is a district wide program that looks to implement specific intervention for English and math content in small group sessions. Rock Bridge will be offering sessions based on teacher availability before and after school. Rock Bridge will not be providing transportation to or from these sessions. Attached below are the hard links as well as the QR codes to the SignUpGenius for both contents respectively.

Student Support Opportunities

The faculty at Rock Bridge is committed to helping all our students succeed. We work collaboratively to ensure that our students have all the support programs available to help them at school, and we solicit your support at home to encourage regular study/organization habits, a quiet place to study, time to study throughout the week, as well as monitoring academic progress with your student and teachers. We also have the following support programs to help with homework completion and tutoring:

  1. Almost every RBHS Student has an AUT, Advisory, and/or Study Hall to complete school work, refresh their understanding of content, or get assistance with work that is challenging.
  2. Rock Bridge provides our Tutoring Center for all students during each of the 8 blocks. Our Tutoring Center is staffed by Math, Science, and Studies certified teachers and students with interest (and competency) in each of these contents.
  3. Columbia Public Schools is pleased to share with families an exciting new resource for our scholars. The district is offering free academic tutoring for all scholars in grades K-12. The tutoring support, called Tutor Me, is available 24/7. Your scholar may access TutorMe any time by logging in to the CPS student portal.

Please view the September BRIDGE for greater details regarding these 3 opportunities.
