#MoreThanAScore
I know that we tell our scholars that they are more than a score with the state tests looming, but I want you to know that as an educator in our building, YOU are more than a score as well.
I am honored to get to work alongside you all in the quest to creating resilience, grit, and opportunity for each of our scholars.
You have put in the hard work to teach them what the state will unfairly test them on, and all I can ask is that you gave it your all.
All I can ask is that you are able to stand in front of each of your scholars tomorrow and let them feel how much you believe in them because it is your heart that matters more than this test.
All I can ask is that you focus on their strengths as human being and let them know you have their back no matter what the score report shows.
All I can ask is that you do your best every class period every day because we want to mirror what real life looks like no matter what skills the test questions of them.
All I can ask is that you celebrate your growth as an educator this year because if you grew, your kids grew and the test will never measure that.
Hold your heads high going into this week if you are a tested subject. If you are not a tested subject this week, give a high five to your local 7th and 8th grade English teachers and 8th grade math teachers and let them know you've got their backs, too.
Go Warhawks! And, remember, you belong here.

Testing Reminders
JEANS ON TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY FOR TESTING!
From Nurse Flater
- We have some scholars, due to allergies or other medical issues that might be bringing their own snacks. I will send out a list Monday (I am waiting on a few calls back from parents).
- If a scholar takes SCHEDULED medication ie (ADHD, seizure ) medication I will come to their testing room and get that to them.
- If a scholar wants headache, cramp medication they will need to come to my office to get their medication.
- We have 5 diabetics on campus. As soon as I see the rosters, I will email that teacher to let them know that they have a diabetic in their room and provide some extra information.
ACTION ITEM: WMS Awards Ceremony
Our awards ceremony is scheduled for May 6 from 6:00 - 7:30. (We anticipate finishing much earlier than that.)
See the steps below and relevant deadlines to recognize your scholars.
- Please click on the link HERE to locate the master awards sheet.
- By Friday 4/12, you will need to select one student to recognize for your individual class. If you have courses within the same subject (such as Math 8 and Alg I), you still only pick one scholar to recognize from all of your courses. Type the student's first and last name into Column C next to your last name shown in Column B.
- Additionally, your department will also select one outstanding Scholar of the Year for your subject and grade level, respectively. Your department chair will contact you regarding how your department will select the Scholar of the Year recipient.
- We will also recognize five 7th grade scholars and five 8th grade scholars as the Wellborn Way Scholars of the Year. Please nominate any scholar in the school for this award using THIS FORM.
- Your administrative team will check the names to ensure one student does not get more than 2 awards. If this is the case, we will contact you for an alternate.
- We also need a few volunteers to help assist with making all the moving parts of awards ceremony come together. Administrators and department chairs will already have roles for the event, but we are in need of at least 7 staffulty members to assist in this process. If you are available, please let Hackethorn or Mishler know.
HERO points are adding up! Need help remembering to login and track points?
Your SEL Design Team is in the process of creating a quick-reference guide for you in the form of a one-pager. This will serve as a reminder of what kinds of behaviors you are looking for and point values associated with each.
A "Menu" of what can be purchased will be posted around the school in the high traffic areas for scholars to refer to.
