MES NEWS FLASH
Welcome Back to another great year at Milan Elementary!
Meet The Teacher Night, Tuesday, August 7
We will hold our annual “Meet the Teacher Night” on Tuesday, August 7. Before that time, you should go to the school website to pay book bills, purchase device insurance ($25), deposit money into your child’s meal account, and update your child’s information. If you do not have internet access at home, computers will be available that evening for you to use for this purpose and staff members will be available to help or answer any questions. The computers, in addition to a variety of informational booths, our special area staff, and our PTO will be set up in the gym beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Class meetings will be held at these times:
Grade 1 at 5:45 p.m.
Grade 2 at 6:00 p.m.
Grade 3 at 6:30 p.m.
Grade 4 at 6:50 p.m.
Kindergarten Orientation will be at 1:00 p.m. and Preschool Orientation at 3:00 p.m.
Parents, please plan to meet in the cafeteria at this time for a short information session and then you will meet with your child’s teacher. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting for some very important information. We hope you and your child will take advantage of this opportunity to visit school, find your child’s new classroom and meet the teacher.
We look forward to seeing you and your family very soon as we begin another great year of learning at Milan Elementary School.

Online Registration is Open! Please Visit the School Website to Complete Registration for Your Child
We’re gearing up for another great year at Milan Elementary School and our office is open to enroll NEW students!
Parents of returning students, including those who were in Readiness Kindergarten last year, simply need to register your child online before the first day of school by following the "Online Registration" link on the corporation website (http://www.milan.k12.in.us). Once there, you will log into the family account that you created last year to update your information and complete all of the “back to school” forms. You’ll also be able to see who your child’s teacher will be for the coming school year. Important: Don’t forget to hit “submit” or it won’t mark your registration as completed! Parents of new kindergarten students will be receiving instructions in the mail on how to create an account. Please feel free to contact our office if you need help with this.
You will find your child’s school fee in the online EZPay account. To pay fees and deposit money for meals, those who already have an EZPay account will need to click on the EZPay logo at the upper right of the corporation web page to log into your existing account to make payments using a debit/credit card. Parents of new students will receive (by mail) the information necessary to set up their account.
The “One-to-One” link to pay for Chromebook/IPad Device insurance is also found on the school website. Parents are strongly urged to make the application for device insurance as repairs on an iPad or Chromebook can become quite costly; much more than the $25 fee for the insurance! Your child will carry this device to and from school regularly and accidents can easily happen. If you do not purchase the insurance, you will be responsible for the entire cost of repairs or replacement. The deadline to purchase this insurance is September 7.
The application for lunch and book assistance can be found by following the link on the registration page (after logging into or creating your family’s PowerSchool account as directed) or by typing www.LunchApp.com in your browser. It is also available in paper form in the office and paper applications will be available on “Meet the Teacher Night.” If your child received lunch assistance last year, that will continue for the first week of school.
School begins for students in grades 1-4 on Thursday, August 9, with a regular, full day of school and kindergarten and preschool students will start the following day, Friday, August 10. Early dismissals on Wednesday afternoons will continue this year so plan for your child to come home a half-hour earlier every Wednesday during the school year.
