Mrs. Rogers
Week 5
Parents, thank you for getting your child's progress report returned to me. I still have a few that have not been returned.
A letter (bright green) with information about our Fort Worth Stockyard field trip is in the Tuesday folder. I will send out a Remind about making sure you send your child with a packed lunch, or they will need to get a lunch from the cafeteria.
Mrs. Whitehead and I have a combined Remind account now since we do see each other's homeroom students during the day. Those of you using Remind, thank you so much; it's such an easy way to communicate with you.
In Science, we are discussing how temperature changes objects/matter. Students have activities to complete on Stemscopes online. If your child has problems getting on to Stemscopes at home let me know. We have some class time for them to complete the activities here at school, but they may need to get online at home also.
In ELA, we are working on grammar mechanics like capitalization, commas, and ending punctuation. Have your child write thank you letters, or a list of what they need from the store, or maybe what they want to do over the weekend. Read over what they have written and look at their spelling and penmanship.
We are going to the library on Mondays, and students have checked out library books. It would be wonderful of you to be able to listen to your child read at least four times a week for about a 20 minute period each time. Ask your child what they predict will happen or how the character feels, is the setting important to the story, what do they think about the choices the character is making? Asking leading questions will help them with comprehension of the book.
Picture day is this Wednesday. Also SAVE THE DATE Friday, October 7th is parent/teacher conferences. More information will be going home soon about parent/teacher conferences.
The PTA fundraiser starts tomorrow for the chocolate candy sale. Students went to an assembly today and are excited about helping raise money for our school and win prizes! The permission form must be signed that went home on Friday for your child to participate and receive a box of candy to sell. The fundraiser ends on October 12.
Thank you for all you do!
