Go Fourth!
News & tidbits from HRRS fourth grade
Week of March 7-11, 2016
Hello Parents!
It is starting to feel like spring is in the air; from the cherry blossoms opening up, the warmer temperatures, to spring showers keeping us indoors for recess. I love this time of year. Please send a jacket on your child or in their backpack. It can still be blustery and cold at recess (like today). We finished up reading Little House in the Big Woods a bit ago and are now about four chapters into the Wind in the Willows. Ask your child to about the story. Did you read it as a child?
Spelling Test- List 7 Tomorrow! Lesson 7 Test on Wednesday! Lots going on in 4th Grade. :) We've been discussing movies & media as a form of communication. Fact and Opinion are key ideas to know; and to discuss at home! Wednesday is the end of the 2nd Trimester; all late and incomplete work must be turned in by the end of the day (including but not limited to the Book Report from February 25th that a few students are still belaboring).
Last chance for Crab Feed Tickets!
The crab feed/auction is this weekend on Saturday, March 12th and we would love to see you there! Ticket cost is $60.00 per person, which includes all-you-can-eat crab, prime rib, beer, and wine. Peruse and bid on a variety of silent auction items. Live auction will begin after the dessert dash, along with music and dancing at the end of the night. This is a great opportunity to meet other school families, alumni, and support Holy Rosary School. Feel free to invite friends and family to join the fun. Tables can be purchased for up to eight guests. Tickets can be purchased online at hrrsjda.org. There is a link for tickets right on the home page. Buy TODAY!! See you there!
St. Patrick's Day March 17th
St. Patrick's Day falls on a mass day this year, but students will still be allowed to wear green that day to celebrate. Green T-shirts, hoodies, jackets, jeans, corduroy pants, maybe bracelets, socks, etc. will work this year, but please think conservative. We will have NO Green hair, green face/body paint, over-the-top accessories, leggings, or basketball shorts. We'll still be going to church. Thanks for your cooperation in this!
Next week, on Tuesday, we'll be having our first read-in. I have told the kids about the event; but in case it's new to you, let me explain. Basically, the kids have an extended day of reading, so they will need to come prepared with a few things. First, a variety of reading materials (chapter book, fun book ie. Calvin & Hobbes, magazine) and, second, comfy things (blanket, stuffed animal...?). It'll be a fun day and we'll repeat it towards the end of the third trimester as well.
Have a great rest of your Monday!
