- One of hid older sister died at the age of 16 when he was 8 from polio
- He dropped out of school at the age of 14
- Was an messenger, office boy for the insurance companies, and landed a job as a bookkeeper at Rochester Savings Bank
- He suicide in 1932

- "The Brownie" got it's name from Palmer Cox little character
