Important Back to School Information

Hooker Oak Daily Schedule

Please click here to view the daily schedule for Hooker Oak School. Please note that every Wednesday is a modified day and students are released early.

Chromebooks

Please make sure to send your child to school on the first day with their charged Chromebook. Teachers will provide more information about Chromebook expectations in the coming week.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Students may be dropped off in front of the school and may enter the building through the Arbutus door or the 3rd Ave. door. Pick up is in the same location. When entering the drop-off/pick-up location, please pull all the way forward to avoid congestion in the street. We also ask that you do not park your vehicle in this location. It is designed to be a quick drop-off/pick-up point.

Masks

CUSD will adhere to California Public Health Guidelines. Please click here to view the CUSD Maks Policy. All students, staff, and visitors must wear masks indoors. Please make sure your child has a comfortable mask and an extra in his/her backpack. Masks are optional outdoors.

Parent Square

There is a new app to receive notifications from the school. Go to your App Store and download the app called "Parent Square." Simply log in with your Aeries Communication portal credentials and you will receive all of the notifications in one place for all of your Chico Unified students that are connected to your Aeries portal.

Breakfast and Lunch

The MPR opens every morning at 7:45 for breakfast. We will also have a Second Chance breakfast for students who missed the first breakfast time during morning recess. Breakfast and lunch will be free to all students this year! Students will still be required to enter their 5 digit ID number.

School Site Council Parent Rep Needed!

Dear Parents,

Our School Site Council (SSC) currently has 1 vacancy for a PARENT member. We would be honored if you would consider serving in this position.

Our SSC meetings occur on the first or second Wednesday of each month, with the exception of November, January, and February, from 2:30 – 3:30. The team consists of half parents (5), and half school staff: three classroom teachers, one classified member, and myself. Any member of the public may attend the meeting, but only the members can vote. Members serve a two-year term. Each year we create the School Plan, including action steps for student achievement supported by “categorical” monies. In addition, SSC is tasked with reviewing and revising as necessary the Parental Involvement Policy and the School Safety Plan. The SSC members volunteer to serve on the Council.

The members of SSC are elected by their peers. Should you choose to “run” for this position, your name will be on a ballot and every Hooker Oak parent will be asked to vote August 23rd-27th.

Our first School Site Council meeting and training for this year is:

When: Wednesday, September 1, 2020

Time: 2:30 p.m.

Location: Room 18

***Please call our school office to let us know if you are interested in running for School Site Council or email Principal Emily Mullins at emullins@chicousd.org by August 20, 2021.

Thank you,

Emily Mullins

Principal
