Tiger Trot Information
Jackson families, it’s that time of year again for our annual Tiger Trot (jog-a-thon)!! Tiger Trot 2022: A Trot Through the Park, will be run on Friday, October 14. This is our big fundraising event of the year. Our goal is $20,000! Help us achieve our goal!
On the day of Tiger Trot, your student will run as many laps as they can for 20 minutes and will then receive a snack and drink to celebrate their hard work. Students also receive prizes based on the amount of money raised. Due to a very generous sponsor, all students will also receive a Tiger Trot t-shirt. Information along with envelopes for collecting donations should have come home in your child's backpack a couple weeks ago. Extra envelopes, additional information, and collection envelopes are on the PTA bulletin board in the entry hall at school. Volunteers for the day of will absolutely be needed. A sign up sheet for volunteers will be sent closer to the event. If you have any questions, please email jacksontigertrot@gmail.com

Wednesday, October 12th, is National Walk and Roll to School Day! The PTA Healthy Kids Committee will not be leading group walks this year, but we encourage all students who live in the neighborhood to walk to school with friends and family. Students who are not able to walk from home can still get their steps in by joining a group walk around Rotary Park at 7:20am. Students who walk from home or who participate in the group walk may stop by the table in front of Jackson to get a sticker and a breakfast snack before heading into school. We hope to see lots of walkers on Wednesday!

Second Step
We want your child to be successful in school and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, children also need skills to take on learning challenges, make good decisions, manage strong emotions, and get along with others.
Please see below to learn more about what your child is learning next week and find guiding questions to assist with continuing the conversation at home. Families can also visit The Second Step Family Webpage to view full lessons and student handouts.
