Charon is mostly ice but the core might be rock we don't know. It doesn't rotate around Pluto so it is considered a dwarf planet. Christy originally suggested the name Charon because of his wife’s name “Char”.The distance between Charon and Pluto is 19,570 kilometers (12,160 mi).
