Excellence and Acheivement
Last night we had the first of our winter concerts, the grade 7 & 8 chorus. This involves over 250 students in total. There was a lovely rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah by the combined chorus and a fun rendition of You're a Mean one Mr. Grinch to end the evening. A big thank you to all of the parent and teacher volunteers that helped keep the students organized and congratulations Mr. McDonough for the performance!
Additionally, our student council officers took a trip to the Franciscan Children's Hospital to tour the facility and meet some of recipients of the donations being collected this week. The students toured the hospital, learned about all the services provided, interacted with some patients, and learned about the role of a child life specialist. The students came back to share what they saw at the hospital during the student council meeting. These officers took in and remembered EVERYTHING and shared so much with Student Council upon their return. Ms. Siegal and Ms. Bayiates, the faculty advisors, were so impressed and moved by these students. It was an incredible day.
Finally, there was the December meeting of the friendship club. These students are making inclusion an integral part of the experience at CMS!
As we look forward to the last week before vacation we have the band and orchestra concert on Tuesday at the National Geography Bee to finish off Friday!
