Celebrating the best of Lovett!
Mrs. Buchannan: "Speaking the truth and being a great listener, which is really hard in kinder. Thank you for hearing my concerns and always, always being positive."
Tane Sims: Always having kind and positive things to say to me every day. You call me beautiful everyday. Thank You just for caring!"
Monica Babaian: Special shout out to Monica from Mrs. Thompson. Thanks Monica for introducing me to Smore! It's such a great new way to communicate with staff and parents. I'm having so much fun with it!
Growth Mindset Tips
- Instead of saying, "You're so smart!" I hope that we are all praising effort, goal setting, persisting through challenges, or being creative. A Quick Example: "Wow! You must have worked really hard on this!"
- Help students with self talk. If they say, "This is too hard!" help them to change that language to, "I can't do that yet, but I will keep trying"
7 Myths About Rigor in Learning: Are any of these holding you back?
- Lots of homework is a sign of rigor.
- Rigor means doing more.
- Providing support means lessening rigor.
- Rigor is not for everyone.
- Having the right resources equal rigor
- Standards are alone take care of rigor.
- Rigor is just one more thing to do.
Remember every Lovett student deserves to be pushed and challenged. Our job as educators is to create an environment where they can be successful even when learning get difficult.
