St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 1 | 14 OCTOBER 2021
Blessed are you, Lord God, Creator of body and mind and heart;
you have sent the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge to guide your people in all their ways.
At the beginning of this new term we implore your mercy: bless the students, teachers,
and staff of St Columba’s, that together we may grow in faith, hope, and love as we learn from you and each other how to follow your Son Jesus in Christ Jesus forever and ever.
Amen.
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community,
I hope that you all had a wonderful school holiday. It was lovely to see all our staff, students and families looking relaxed and happy to be back at school, ready for our final term of 2021.
I would like to announce that Mr Jesse Yock will be joining the St Columba’s staff in 2022 as our second Assistant Principal. Jesse is currently the Assistant Principal at St Paul’s Primary School, Karratha and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the school. All being well, I am hoping that Jesse will be visiting the school in Week 5 to meet staff and students. Please make him welcome.
Our deepest sympathy to Miss Monica Italiano and her family on the loss of her beloved Nonna during the holidays. May she rest in peace. Please also keep Father Casey in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers from illness.
The St Columba’s Camp Out is fast approaching this Saturday. Please read the information further down regarding this event. I wish all the participating parents and children a fantastic night.
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke
Principal

Dads Camp Out 2021
Hello Families,
Only two sleeps to go to Camp Out 2021! Thank you for the completed registrations. Registrations are now closed and we can turn our attention to a couple of key points to ensure a great experience for all!
When does camp out start?
Time: 3pm. Feel free to arrive and set your tent site up from 3pm.
What activities are planned?
A range of activities such as games, ball sports and paper plane making will occur after the Camp Out Welcome from Monsignor at 5pm.
Are children’s electronics devices allowed?
We discourage bringing electronic devices for children as the spirit of the camp out is the social connection and engagement with the children and families. Not to mention the risk of devices being damaged or lost with such large numbers of children at Camp Out.
Will food and drink be provided?
Yes. Sausage in a bun will be provided for dinner along with Zooper Doopers. This will be timed from 6pm.
Bacon and egg rolls will be provided for breakfast along with fruit juice or milo’s.
Our Ruby Girl will be providing a Coffee Van from 7am on Sunday to help with shaking off our bleary eyes!
If you bring any alcoholic drinks, please drink in moderation as the supervision of your child/ren is your responsibility at all times.
What areas of the school and grounds are accessible over Camp Out?
The main access points will be the gates on Alexandra Street to the lower oval.
Primarily the lower oval is the main area for Camp Out. Toilets are accessible opposite the library. We ask that younger children are accompanied by parents to the toilets at night.
The top oval is accessible for play as the canteen area will be for meal serving at dinner and breakfast time.
Please be considerate of Monsignor, the Parish grounds and Church – these areas are out of bounds over Camp Out. Please be aware that Mass is celebrated on Saturday at 6pm and Sunday morning at 7.30am and 9.30am.
What time is lights out?
10pm. The flood lights around the lower oval will be turned off at 10pm and this is the time for quieter activities or better yet start to try and get some sleep!
Camp Out is a terrific experience for children and families alike, lets keep the school values and code of conduct in mind at all times and we are sure a terrific time will be had by all.
Thank you
Todd, Neilsen and Mel
