CJH Weekly Update
Staff - Week of September 23rd - Homecoming
Need to Know
We will be meeting in Room 24 at 3:15. Please bring a Chromebook. We have a very full agenda, be prepared to stay the entire time.
Homecoming
We will cover the details of Homecoming in the Staff Meeting on Monday. Here are the most important points.
- We will follow the Homecoming Bell Schedule
- We will be taking students outside for our own activities prior to the K-12 Assembly
- If you participate in the Dress Up days, you may wear jeans each day!
- You will count participants in Dress Up days each day in Homeroom and log into this form.
- You will nominate 1 male and 1 female from each grade level that you feel capable of voting for in the Most Spirited Award for Green and Gold Day. An email reminder will be sent Friday morning.
Breakfast
A few reminders on breakfast. Please make sure that you/students are marking off the list when they take a breakfast. 6th grade is doing great, but we need to see the list being completed more consistently at the other levels. Also, if you find that you are running short on breakfast because so many students are eating, please let us know and Ms. Doreen can bump up how much food she is sending out to your room.
Pre-Evaluation Conferences
Pre-Eval meetings have been scheduled. If you have not received an invite, please let me know. Please come to the meeting prepared to talk about what areas you are thinking about setting for your goals. We will actually be completing your goals together in my office. You will complete the Google Form much like last year following our meeting. Please plan on the meeting lasting 30 minutes.
What should be happening in Homeroom this week?
- Please continue to encourage students to work on homework during this time. This is also a great time to conduct individual grade checks with students and teach the skills behind monitoring grades and how to work through getting extra help and practicing skills that they have not yet mastered.
- Alternatives if their homework is completed will be to read silently, work on iXL for Math or some of you are also using the typing program. These are all great ideas. We will discuss claiming kids this week for RTI purposes.
- We also want to continue to create a sense of community in the homeroom space. Over the next week as we celebrate Homecoming, this is a great time to create a Team name for your Homeroom and even team cheers for our portion of the assembly as they compete against each other. Make it fun and help connect the kids to you and each other.
